23-7-2009 - Week 13 & Scan

My mood while writing this blog: Over the moon!

THE SCAN WAS AWESOME! Everything is fine and we're right on track! The baby measured just over 7cm's, heartbeat was 155 bpm, there's arms, legs, the little thing is so active you wouldn't believe it! The lady had trouble getting her measurements because it was bounching off the wall with it's legs and waving it's arms all around it's head and turning over. What was even better was that one of the Dr's at the clinic is doing a study on uterus measurments and pre-term labour and they asked if I would like to be part of the study. I said sure why not so they also did an internal exam with the ultrasound wand and I got to see more of the baby and hear the heartbeat and see a different angle which showed things so much clearer, even the little fingers and toes! They measured my uterus and cervix and overies. They will do the same at all my scans from here on in as part of the study.

Chris was mesmorised and so was I! I can't believe I'm going to be a Mummy! I am so very very happy, I can't express how relieved I feel!

The scan put me 3 days further along, which I agree with. I don't know when my LMP was, but I know when we had a nookie. The last due date meant conception was 6 days after the nookie, which I know was a stretch. Conception at 3 days after the nookie is more likely! I know a few days makes no difference what-so-ever in the scheme of things, but we all know that each and every day further along in a pregnancy is precious to us!

Oh my lord, you can not believe how happy I am!! We have a pic which I've posted - Chris keeps teasing me that he can see a penis below the umbilical cord, hahahaha.
