| 17-9-2009 - Half Way Survey | My mood while writing this blog:FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC |
How far along are you? 21 weeks.
What craving do you have? Carbs, anything chocolate & dairy (mmmm milkshakes!).
What makes you sick? Nothing. Only thinking something bad will happen to baby.
Boy or Girl? GIRL!
Any names? Jennifer Margaret McDonald. We're going to call her Jenni.
Best maternal advice? My family Dr told me: Everyone will suddenly give you advice and tell you what you should & shouldn't do and what will happen to you based on their own experiences. Be polite and listen, don't argue if you don't agree, just take what you think is good advice and and leave the rest.
Baby's Father? My life partner Chris.
His reaction? Surprise and then total rapture, and then trepidation (the surprise was the way I told him, he didn't have any suspision! The trepidation was for something going wrong and us having our hearts broken again).
Best pregnant memory so far? Feeling baby move and poke inside me. Everyday I think "Thank you for making this the best day of my life".
Biggest fear? That baby will die.
Strangest symptoms so far? Dandruff.
Best advantage of being pregnant? Feeling feminine & special that I'm creating a new life.
Weirdest dreams? Well, you asked! The weirdest so far was finding a kidnapped teenage girl tied up naked in my bedroom, and when I went looking for the person who did it, I found my Dad in the kitchen chopping a baby's head off and putting it in a frying pan.......... and he was naked. Weird enough?
Any crazy emotional outbursts? You betcha! I have been both completely sad like the world will end, and elated to the point of hysterical laughter. I got totally depressed because Chris didn't want to watch the same TV show as me and cried.
Any changes in your breast? They're fuller, but not dramatically changed. I've gone up two cup sizes.
Any changes in the waist? Waist.........oh yeah, I used to have one of those.
Things you quit for baby? Bourbon. I haven't been a full time smoker for over 3 years but I quit the occasional ciggie I did have. Can I mention that these days you can't eat ANYTHING when you're pregnant? I've given up so much yummy food; what I wouldn't give for some freshly shucked oysters in the shell, and a glass of Evan Williams on the rocks!
Most uncomfortable time? None, I feel fine! I am definately starting to move differently though, twisting & bending down aren't the most comfortable things to do right now.
Worst part about being pregnant? The worry. All I do is worry about baby 24/7. It's only when I feel baby moving that I'm not worrying.
Best maternaty clothes? None. I haven't had ANY luck finding new things that look really good. I've bought one dress that's really pretty and comfy. I can't find shorts or a denim skirt which would be the basis of my weekend wardrobe :-( My normal tops are still fitting me, but I have no bottoms (but lots of bottom!)
Any prenatal classes? Chris & I are booked into a pre-parenting class in November at the hospital.
Pregnancy Necessities? Maternity bra........ oh so comfy! Belly bands - they let you wear your normal t-shirts and cover up the fact your shorts are done up with an elastic band!
Family's reaction? Ecstatic!
Godparents? Oh shit - I hadn't even thought of that yet! We're not practicing Catholics, so we might not have them??? Something else to talk to Chris about I suppose.
Where will you deliver? Redcliffe Hospital
When? Hang on a minute, I'll just get my crystal ball out............ Due date is January 28th so hopefully sometime around then.
Will you breastfeed? I hope so. It's really important to me.
Cloth diapers? Yep, I'm going down the environmental route. I have a large washing machine so I'm hoping my Mum will ask "Is there anything I can buy for you" and I'm going to say "Yup, a million cloth nappies please".
Pregnancy books your reading? None - why would I need a book when I have www.i-am-pregnant.com?
