| 20-8-2008 - 3 weeks to go | My mood while writing this blog:excited/relaxed |
It is raining here and the sky is just white. I have been in bed all day as this whole week I have been sick. I woke up with a sore kidney and sore right collar bone on Tuesday and dragged myself to the doctor. I shouldnt have been driving but hubby was in the city and there was no other way. Thankfully I didnt have an accident. I was seen pretty quickly and she was sending my urine off for testing though she thought it was an infection of the kidney and gave me antibiotics. I managed to get to the chemist where by this time, I was freezing and shaking like someone who has tremors. I was so embarassed but tried to hold it together to get my tablets and a bottle of lemonade which I craved. I am normally such an energetic and healthy person that this really took me by surprise. I started thinking that I could not possibly have the baby now as I was just too weak and that I would ask for an epidural. Anyway, I got home, made a hot water bottle, got everything I needed and jumped into bed dressed where over time, I warmed up and was able to peel off the layers. I had paracetemol and my antibiotics and drank like mad. I kept having those flu like stretches too and my nose became extremely blocked. Hubby got everyone dinner and I appreciated that. The next day I still had a sore kidney but had to get up to take my youngest daughter to school as she had school camp. I was so emotional saying good bye to her she looked so sad, I cried and quickly got away before the other parents saw me. Came home, cooked some pasta for dinner and cleaned the kitchen and jumped back into bed. Later I got up and had a bath and listened to a pregnancy/birth cd. I jumped back into bed and dozed for a while. I was later able to get up and come out and serve dinner. I stayed up in the lounge, not really contributing to anything just watching the olympics. At 9.30 we went to bed but I stayed up for a while. My throat had been really itcy so I took some allergy medication which makes you sleepy. I had a lovely night's sleep despite getting up numerous times for the toilet. We had an extra blanket on the bed which probably made me sleep better too.
My daughter who went to camp has the bag that I need to pack our hospital so when she comes back tomorrow afternoon, I can repack the bag and then I will be officially ready to have the baby. I am not at my wit's end or anything. I still have 3 weeks to go and I think that is on the early side. Also my mum isn't here so I dont really have anyone to mind the kids but that doesnt bother me. I havent had any signs of labour or any pre labour signs at all. But 3 weeks! It seems so little time. I will be happy to have my body back but will miss all the kicking and wriggling that I have become so used to feeling. I still cannot tell one end from the other but hopefully we will know tomorrow what position he is in when I go for my next appointment. I just remembered I was supposed to be using this time to get all my first aid courses out of the way too, but I havent, as they are due for doing again with my work.
I am feeling somewhat better now after a shower and I do feel I am over the worst of my ill health, whatever exactly was wrong with me. I have to go tonight to a performance my middle daughter is in. It should be good. I will update after the appointment tomorrow.
