11-9-2008 - 40 week check

My mood while writing this blog: fine happy

today I had my 40 week check according to my dates, 39 w 6 d for theirs. I asked her to do the membrane sweep seeing as she was going to do it next Wednesday anyway. So she did. it was quite uncomfortable but certainly not the worst thing I have endured. I had to put my fists under my bum as she couldnt reach as the cervix was pointing backwards. Once she reached it she said she could feel the baby's head and she put two fingers in but she said the cervix was hard and unfavourable. I have never heard this expression before even after 3 kids. I also asked her what would happen if I didnt go into labour naturally and she said to come in on Tuesday at 3 and she will do it again. She would also schedule a visit with the obstetrician to talk about induction. apparently I could still stay in the birthing centre which is good. the baby is still posterior and the head has engaged slightly more than last week. When she took her hand out of me her gloves had blood on them and she said I would probably bleed. By the time I came home, my undies had blood in them and I now have to wear a pad. it is freaky to bleed while pregnant. The baby hasnt stopped moving since though. If anyone has had any experience with this please tell me..........
