| 18-10-2008 - baby rolls and pride | My mood while writing this blog:proud and amazed |
On Friday I saw Hadley roll from front to back. He pushes himself up on his hands and even pulls his knees under his hips in a crawling motion. I put my hands on his feet for support and he actually pushed forward in an awkward commando crawl. He enjoys his tummy time and last night I woke up to him on his tummy. I used to give him showers at night time after 8ish sometime and then hop into bed with him but 2 nights ago I had to give him a bath earlier - at about 5.30 as he had a very dirty nappy and needed a bath. So I put the baby's bath in the big bath and just filled if up a bit. He enjoyed it and then after dressing and feeding, he fell asleep until about 12 when I went in and moved him to our room. I put him in the cradle and shortly after in with me. and tonight I gave him a bath earlier than normal and once again he has stayed asleep since about 8.30, which gives me time to spend being with the rest of my family or doing things for myself. I still have to do my bas, study for this first aid course and rewrite my philosophy for when I return to work. I do family day care and will have a few vacancies to fill so will need to get that done, as well as get the house ready and in clean for when I am interviewing people. A lot of things have changed since I stopped work so I will have to become familiar with the changes too --- boring! In fact I wish I didnt have to go back to work so I am hoping for a miracle. Winning tattslotto, or hubby getting a huge promotion. I am desperately trying to slow the clock down as I only have 2 weeks of time off with my gorgeous baby left. the best thing about my job is that I can have him with me all the time, but I will be looking after 3 other kids. Hours just fly by at the moment. I look at the clock and then I look again and an hour would have gone by or 2 hours. Slow down please!
We have been trying to get out of the house regularly and during the week we have been making a quick dash to the school to walk home with the kids. On the way home twice I have ended up walking and feeding Hadley while the kids push the empty pram. The other day I was shopping and feeding too. I just do it wherever he wants it. it calms him down.
I keep having trouble with leaky nappies. I am told it is very common with boys. Today it was quite warm so we went outside to have time without his nappy. I like to give him time without it - after wearing a maternity pad for weeks I can relate to the discomfort. although obviously he has years ahead of him wearing a nappy yet.
I went to a sleep settling course the other day and I did not agree with it, although I learnt things which was good. I just found it contradictory. She was saying that babies can only communicate by crying but also said that sometimes babies just cry and if you are busy you should just talk to them and let them cry. Obviously there was more to it than that but it just didnt feel right to me. I am looking for his tired signs and putting him down in his cot to learn to sleep by himself but if he cries I will try and resettle him. Sometimes I end up in tears at the thought of him lying there by himself. I love him so much. And the other day I went in to see him as he was crying and picked him up and he fell asleep in my arms. Gorgeous!
I had another appointment with the maternal and child health nurse and he has put on 500g in 2 weeks which is what they would expect over a 2 week period which makes him 4850grams or 10lb 2oz now. He has grown 2cm in length and his head and now measures 58.5cm in length. I know he is growing as he is now wearing 00 which fit him much better.
