| 05-11-2008 - back at work | My mood while writing this blog:surprisingly happy |
I am back at work! I started Monday but I am easing back into it as the family were home on Mon and helped me with the baby, bringing him to me for feeds. Then tues was a holiday and today Wed, I only had 1 other girl who was an angel but I had two interviews for people wanting care. I was worried about it all but they both turned out to be lovely and the kids were good. I think they are going to come to me - I look after kids in my home. I can have 3 others as I have my own child in care although I don't get paid for him but at least I can work and not have to put him in care or pay for care. I have 3 others tomorrow but really I am handling things ok. I just give them lots of things to do and try not to worry about how much mess there is to clean at the end of the day. Hadley is doing well with his sleeps too. he is getting used to sleeping in his cot and going to bed awake which is something we have both had to learn to do. ususally it is a couple of minutes before he crashes out, but that sleep/settling session I went to was very helpful in the end. If he is tired and doesn't want to feed, I put him down and if he grizzles I let him go, if he fully cries I go and settle him but I always tell him how much I love him and how he is safe and he can do this. We are getting there together. Other than that, he has a great personality; very easy to read and doesnt have crying fits. In the night, he sleeps well, waking up enough just to grunt or snuffle and it is then that I know that he needs changing or needs a burp, but he doesnt fully wake up and crack it. I just put the boob in his mouth and he goes back to sleep. Last night he slept from 11 til about 4am. He has been sleeping for 45 minutes during the day and being awake for a while , then going back to sleep for another 45 minutes, but he seems reset now and sleeps more which is great for everyone. Looking back on my girls, I think I didnt know the tired signs and just kept them up which made them more cranky, so I used to feed them. If I knew then what I know now, I would have let them grizzle a bit and they probably would have slept. Oh well.
Cant wait to see how much weight he has put on at my next visit in a week. He is smiling and laughing now too which melts my heart. He is great on his tummy and can really lift his head up high. he loves his baths and showers. I would love to put him in a big heated pool but will wait for summer until I can put him in our pool when it gets hot enough. he loves to kick and splash. he has swatted at his toys on his rocker too and seemed to hit the water in the shower tonight - not sure if they were intentional but it looked like it. hubby seems confident with him and doesnt shy away from holding, changing or comforting him. The only thing he cant do is breastfeed him.
Last night after writing this Hadley slept until record breaking 5am! I was so surprised. So from 8.45 ish to 5am. then this morning after feeding him at 5 he slept again until about 8, then had another feed and slept again for a brief time, then got up about 9 ish. Went back to sleep at 10.40 and stayed asleep until 2pm. I fed him then and he fell asleep on the boob and again when I was patting his back. I am amazed and very proud of him too.
