| 22-2-2009 - Feeling great - meeting the Veronicas | My mood while writing this blog:great |
I had the greatest weekend. Firstly on my day off, my husband wasn't here; he normally works from home on a Friday. So I had a lovely morning with Hadley. Then I had a brainwave - go to the hairdressers! This weekend I had party on - a friend's 40th birthday party (I used to be in her husband's band) and we had to dress in 60's costume. Also, next Tuesday my youngest daughter and I are going to see the Veronica's in St Kilda. My Uncle won us tickets and part of the prize is to MEET THE VERONICAS! Now I am not a fan at all but my daughter is and besides - meeting them! I mean - that is exciting. So I thought I should look my best and this involved getting some blonde foils and I am so glad I did.
I used to have blonde hair when I was little, then I grew up and my hair went darker but I still dyed it blonde. Then during my 20's I had all different coloured hair. In my 30's I had red hair and now that I am 40, I am going back to blonde. The last 1 1/2 years, I have had to regrow my hair out after severly damaging it the previous years with dying it and bleaching it and teasing it and spraying it when I was in the band. Grrrr! Anyway, I was very patient and I cut my hair and bravely went without dye, letting it be it's natural colour which is, in the front mostly, white and grey. I make no excuses for it and I am not embarassed about it. Big deal, you know? But I totally wanted a new look and now, I am totally in love with my new hair. I had 5 blonde foils in. I took bubby and he slept in the pram which was handy. It has given my hair body which it sorely lacked. So I just wanted to share how totally wrapped I am that I did it and it only cost me $30 - I walked out of there feeling as though I looked a million bucks.
For the party, I wore a maternity top which was colourful and A line which came just to the top of my legs. I wore lycra tights and long black boots. I wore heaps of eye make up and tried to do my hair but it would not co operate, so I whacked on some long beads and transformed into a 60's person.
Everyone there was dressed in wigs and had hired outfits and looked really cool. There was live music and the guy who played the music was the manager/singer in my old band. The girls had a great night except my youngest daughter who was cold and tired and had a sore throat. She mainly sat in the kitchen near the oven. the other girls played with the other kids there and had fun running around in the dark. As we were going to go home, the singer guy asked me to come and sing some songs so I did and I ended up doing about 6 songs that I used to in the band. It was so much fun and just a really good night. Hadley was great and slept in my arms most of the night.
I guess I just felt after this weekend that I could still look good and feel good doing some of the things I used to do.
This morning everyone was very tired and slept in. I took my daughter to the doctor but it turned out she was fine, then I came home and had a lie down with Hadley and fell asleep. Later my dad came around and we played singstar.
I just had a wonderful, but too short weekend. Not to worry; in two days my youngest daughter and I are going to the concert and having dinner with my dad before and he will drive us there so I am looking forward to it.
Hadley is making all these really high pitched noises - I think they are of happiness and curiosity. he is trying as hard as he can to get around but can still only manage a combat crawl. He has been pulling himself to standing when I hold his hands. He is still smiling and laughing so much. Everyone finds so much joy just being around him as is such a happy boy whose smiles are contagious.
My only bummer for the weekend is that I didn't get to exercise yesterday or today, except for some exercise I did with resisance bands and when I weighed myself today I was 900grams heavier than yesterday. This week I have to get back on to my regular exercise and my proper diet. I also must remember to drink my water. Must go and express milk now for Tuesday night, Bye.
xx
