| 27-3-2009 - baby led weaning - no more dieting for me for now | My mood while writing this blog:curious |
Today I found out that my baby didn't put on as much weight as he has been and we both put it down to dieting (me). He is still above average on the scale but not at the same rate so that's it - hello fatness - hello carbs and fat. And it is all for baby. I am also going to get into baby led weaning. I have been reading about it and realise that Hadley can feed himself a biscuit or rusk or piece of toast, so this is what I am going to do. No more cooking and freezing into ice cubes. Bubby can eat what we do and in mushy chunks that he can feed himself. We also talked about Hadley's sleeping habits and how he hasn't been sleeping well by wriggling out of his wrapping and then playing for ages, ending up by crying. The nurse said to me to put him to bed when he is tired and not feed him to sleep as he has been doing lately. I tried that today and in the end couldnt do it. I went in and got him up and was sitting on my lap while he held a dummy. he put it in his mouth and fell asleep sitting up on my lap. And then tonight again I gave in to him and fed him to sleep. I am such a hard ass with other people's kids and can see when babies and kids are playing their parents and here I am doing it! ARgggh! But then I am not going to be too hard on him. He can sleep and he will go to sleep by himself. I just don't want to deny him - I know though that I am probably being played but I can't help it.
Also she told me to put him to sleep at a routine time but gee I am so opposed to routines. I dont like to stick to routine, hell, I am not even in a routine myself. I had thought to do this myself by writing down what time he gets tired and what have you but I am too busy.
We went swimming today and it was pretty good. Hadley loves the water and splashes with one hand and kicks like mad. His whole head went under today. I have noticed he is putting his hand out to the water in the shower which was lovely to see. He still prefers to be in the bath on his tummy. But he is so mobile. he is almost sitting now and almost crawling. Today he had a pear and and half an avocado. I tried letting him feed himself but the pear just slipped out so I crushed it and fed it to him off a spoon.
