16-9-2008 - Hurricane update

My mood while writing this blog: worried but relieved

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers! Everything ended up ok for us here in League City. We are about 20 miles north of Galveston, so there was still alot of damage to our area, but my family and I are safe! We got power yesterday and cable/internet today so we are doing GREAT compared to some other people. My aunt, for instance, lives about 3 miles from me and is still without power. The water is still not safe to drink unless it is boiled though. My mom and I were able to go to the grocery store yesterday. It was weird shopping in a dark store! All of the frozen food isles. meat isles, etc were closed, and it stunk in there! But I stocked up on more diapers and baby neccessities, as it will probably be a while before things are up and running like they used to. I finally got ahold of my husband today to let him know that the baby and I are ok. I feel really bad for the people who lost everything. My sister's boyfriend and his family are staying at our other house because they lived 4 blocks from the seawall and basically have nothing left! Please keep all of the unfortunate people in your thoughts and prayers, and lets hope everyone works together to get things as close to normal as possible. THANKS again!!!!!!

robyns, so glad to hear from you! We were all so worried cause we knew you were so close to the destruction. So glad you're ok! I'll keep your other family members in my thoughts and prayers. We survived fine. A few downed trees and limbs, but other than that, we're doing ok.
