23-11-2009 - Gallbladder is coming out

My mood while writing this blog: thinking about being pain free

I usually dont post bolg after blog or post this long....but I want to tell you all the story of how I am getting my gall bladder out on weds.

It started during my first pregnancy I was 20 weeks almost to the day and one Sunday night we went and had a pork burito at my favorite resteraunt. It was a usual night and we went to bed well I woke up at 2am in horible pain we went to the ER and no sooner then I was hooked up the pain was gone...they said you 'could' have gall stones key word could...they told me most women only get them when pg or after the age of 35. OK I thought lets pray I dont have another well my prayers were answered I didnt have another one my whole pg.

2 years latter almost to the day I am hanging out with my family when I can feel one coming on...and when I say I feel it I mean its like when you start going into labor and you start having contractions (which normaly is how they feel are usually are bareable) then all of the sudden it hits you and your in 'labor' (or thats how it feels, and your labor lasts hours) well I have been getting little gall bladder spasms they come and go but Sat nights episode was bad so I went in to the hospital for some meds. I didnt even get a chance to be hooked up and yep you guess it the pain stops! So I tell the Dr. they said well we can do an ultra sound and some blood tests or you could make an apt with your regular dr and get it scaned to see if it needs to come out. I said OK thats what Ill do went home ate dinner went to bed that was that.

SO last night I was getting out of the shower when I could feel another one comming on. It hit hard and I tried to withstand the pain for as long as possible but after an hour I knew that this one was going to be worse than the last. We went to the hospital again! (this is going to be an expensive week) This time they hooked me up to the pain killers and they scheduled an ultra sound the worry was that I might need an emegency gall bladder surgery. They did the ultra sound and yep I had 20 stones and the tech said they looked like they were around 1cm in size.

The ER dr came in said he thought the best thing was to call the surgon in the am and schedule an apt to have the gall bladder out. So we did just that the lady named Jane who is doing the surgery she is amazing I wish she was my OB she was so involved! (this is who I saw today) she had a cancelation in her schedule so I could have gotten it out today but when she was doing my exam she noticed that I had a hard knot in my stomach she called it something and said she wanted to see me tomorrow to see if it is gone? (this made me worried) but apperantly after tramatic pain the knot can show up or it could be something else which she said we would discusse if it wasnt gone in the am. O did I mention the Nurse was a B!TCH

SO I cant wait to take pictures of my new gall bladder scars, to sport with my apendectamy, and heart sugurey scars my hubby called me the human pin cushion which made me sad but I guess you have to be proud of your scars. I am not nervious just anxious because I dont want to have another episode before I get the darn thing out!
