18-6-2009 - Holiday / House Update

My mood while writing this blog: Oh la la, super excited

Lovely Ladies of IAP :o)

I thought I would update you all.

Firstly, I am off on my holidays tomorrow night (Fri 19th) until late Monday (29th) I have been really excited about this trip for some time now, and this last week that excitement has just got bigger. Purely because I am out of the office, and I havent had a holiday as such since last June :o) We are off to Holland for a VW show, then we are driving through Germany, taking in the Wolfsburg (VW) museum and other sites, then on to a little town called Hessisch Oldendorf for a vintage show. We are doing all of this in our 1967 Split camper :o) so it is going to be soooo much fun :o)

Secondly, I will update you on the house progress. For the last few weeks we have been battling with the solicitors, not just ours, but the other couples, and the ones dealing with the house they are buying. Purely because they are so blooming slow, and you end up doing to work for them! First, it was 'is there any planning permission for the extension' which no one wanted to find out, so I end up calling the local council to find out it did have it, and it was built in 1974!!! Job done! Then is was the couples house they are buying had trouble as it is what we call a Probate house (left in a will, when someone dies) the solicitors for that were being bone idle, and was holding stuff up! So we agreed that we would wait until after our holiday, everyone seemed fine with this and our solicitors were ment to tell everyone of this change of date! Er NO! They have had over seven weeks to sort all of this out as they have known we wanted to be in by the 19th, and yet we are doing their work.

Anyway, last week we were told this week was a no no, which we knew (does no one talk to each other?) Then.....Monday we get a call from our solicitors saying that if we DO NOT exchange this week the deal is off!!! Errrr where did that come from??? In all of this there are just two little words that professional people can not seperate, they are BY and ON. We have always said 'BY the 19th' they heard it as 'ON the 19th' TYPICAL! So we have had a few stressful days getting the deposit together, with the lovely help of our parents :o) Contracts were exchanged today, which means.......WE PICK UP THE KEYS TOMORROW AFTER LUNCH :O) WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO

We are super duper excited :o) although now its a case of, Keys, give it the once over, then off on holiday! But at least we can move in when we get back :o)
