16-10-2009 - 7week Update

My mood while writing this blog:
a moment of calm! (nearly!)

Wonderful Ladies, how are you all?

Whilst I have a few moments of calm (trust me it wont last long!) I thought I would write a quick update.

Since my last blog, I have been having a few back and hip issues. So I go off to see my Chiropractor who informs me, I have SPD (Umm I thought you only got that during pregnancy not after!) He tells me its because I am small framed and that a lot of pressure on them and my pelvice has caused it, that and the fact of being kept flat for 24hours after giving birth didnt help the matter. So once a week he gives my back and hips an MOT :o) Their are slowly getting better, he now wants me to walk for 30mins a day, to losen things up. Thats fine with me, I will pop Addysen in her pram and we will walk where ever her wheels take us :o)

Now for a little getting off the chest time...Excuse me....a couple of weeks ago, Darren's mum and step dad came for a visit from France. Now I know he doesnt see them that much and its the first time they have meet Addysen, so it was nice to seen them, but now I know why Darren is the way he is! Ok let me explain, Darren hates kissing, and I mean HATES it (which is a shame cos I love it) Well from the moment his mum turned up, she done nothing but kiss Addysen and I mean all over! They werent little pecking kisses, they were the wet noisey kisses. Now I can see why he hates them!!! By the end of the second day they were even grating on me. He did tell her to stop, but she didnt pay any attention, and I felt I couldnt say anything. Anyway we also had a family party (which were all his family) He does have a large family, but it mainly consists of step siblings and a half sibling. His sister (half) is the head of the family if you like, she is very family orientaited, has been driving me mad with 'Addysen is sooo much like so and so,' or Addysen may inherite the so and so gene from the family' ARGH! I have had this every time we have seen her which is only 3 times, but god can my daughter not have ONE thing that is me??? And god forbid I mention my family (which there is only 5 of us) NOPE its all about them! Then to top it off, the 'family photo session' every picture taken that day was of Addysen with each member of his family, NOT ONE of me, Darren and Addysen!!! And for that matter his sister in law and her son (from a previous) It was like we were the outsiders, we just sat outside watching the circus (thats what it felt like anyway) Even when I was trying to get Addysen to sleep, I left her in her pram in the living room away from the noise, his niece asked if she should check on her, I said no she was fine, and as she kept going on I was getting a firmer voice, and said 'no she is fine, I will check in a bit' to which his mum replied 'NO, Morgan go and check' (umm did you not hear me!) Everytime she made the slightest noise his mum wanted her, or told me to bring her out. Argh! So for four days I had to bite my tongue very hard. Is it me or do all families do this type of thing?? I have had it out with him, especially over the photos, he didnt realise what was going (so me not being in the room, wasnt a hint, and the fact the chair next to you in that photo is empty, didnt ring any bells!) Since then he has looked at the pictures of that day, and I think it has finally sunk in, even though he would never admit it. Phew rant over sorry.

As for Addysen she is doing good. We did have a little problem with the health visitors and her weight, but after putting on one ounce one week (my last blog) and half a pound the next she weighted 10lb 2oz the Wed after), they soon realised that breast feeding wasnt the best option for us. I did tell them that I had fully stopped breast feeding, and to my shock I was told 'thats ok, because she has had the best three weeks and thats all that matters' So if thats all that matters, why were they being so pushy to carry on before??? Oh well, we are both happy now :o)

Addysen is still having day time nap problems, but if we are to start walking, I think that little problem will be solved in no time ;o)

I cant believe how much she has grown in the past few weeks, and too everyone else she is still small. I look at other babies now, and think she isnt little anymore (silly I know) but then I would say she wasnt tiny when she was born, she just seems older compared to a baby her age (if any of that makes sense!) She has the sweetest little smile and has started to make little cooing noises. Sometimes she attempts a little giggle too, which makes me laugh, as she has a very proud expression on her face when she does it :o) She has also started to do a little phantom sucking motion too, and ends up sucking her top lip which makes a cute little squelching noise lol.

We have our 7week checks next week, so I will try and report on how those go. I am in two minds about her vaccinations (and I know some wont agree) In one hand I have friends whos kids have had them, and they are forever getting ill. In the other I have friends whos kids havent had them, and they are NEVER ill. I just think all the vaccines she has to have is too much for her at such a young age. Now dont get me wrong I know why they are available, and I do believe in her having the MMR vaccine, but all the others are a bit much for her little body to take, and I certainly couldnt watch someone stick a needle in her, and make her cry (although my dad has said he would come with me if I do decide, bless him. Darren couldnt as he hates needles!) I will have a lenghty discussion with the doctor next week about it I think. For now I am still on the scales weighing it all up.

I know exactly how it is with in-laws. When we were still living with my husband's family in Arizona it was a mini hell. I've breastfed with each one of our boys, and my mother-in-law hated that I did, I don't know why. Any who. After I had my boys and they would wake up in the middle of the night crying wanting to feed she would come running into our room with a bottle ready to feed him. I would be sitting there with a breast hanging out getting ready to latch them on. She would od this for months each and every time.

Oh Roo I don't know how you kept your cool for 4 days.... With the still raging hormones, I'd have knocked someone out I'm sure LOL cheers to you! I am glad though that Darren is supportive of you.I fought with myself about vaccinations too. Thankfully her pediatrician is a researcher too so I was able to ask all kinds of questions and he gave me really informed answers that I felt confident in. It's a tough decision with all the information out there.. good luck with your decision :-)Your beautiful daughter will only get more fun in time. I can tell you it only gets better my friend! I'm glad you all are doing so well and I look forward to seeing more pictures!
