23-9-2009 - Good news! Very happyMy mood while writing this blog:
Very happy

So today I had another scan to follow up on the possible placental abruption and other issues. I left with the very good news that everything looks fine and normal!! I still can't really believe it! I am starting to comprehend it but still feel like I need to digest the news and really convince myself that all is as fine as my doctor says it is. Today it was a different person doing the scan and I got to see my actual doctor (whereas I saw a nurse practitioner last time because my doctor wasn't available). There was no sign or evidence of any abruption! There did seem to be some echoes in the amnio sac which points towards some blood from the placenta may have entered it. It was of no concern to the doctor. He says it will get absorbed by time, probably in 2-3 weeks. There are no signs of new bleeding or new blood clots. My placenta is not near the cervix. They can't tell exactly how far away it is because my uterus was a bit contracted at the time, but it definitely wasn't a concern to my doctor, and he was convinced it will keep moving further away as the uterus expands. The blood vessel is still by the cervix but he wasn't concerned about that either. He said that even if it stays that way I can still give normal birth. Yes, it may break but we break blood vessels all the time. It's not like a major artery. It will just close up and stop bleeding. So nothing but good news! I am very, very happy. Perhaps now I can start feeling more like a normal person with a normal pregnancy, if there is such a thing! Thanks everyone for your super support and your many prayers! By the way, didn't get to see the gender today - my scan was internal and the baby wasn't in the right position. I would have loved to have found out but am just SO thankful my baby is well. Heart beat was 152 during the scan and before I saw my doctor his nurse checked it with a doppler and it was 172 - busy little baby. I have the big scan in 2 weeks and am looking forward to it. Today was a stressful day waiting for the scan, and I am left with a major headache but a big smile on my face.
