21-10-2009 - 20 weeks very happyMy mood while writing this blog:
very happy

I am now in my 20th week which means I have passed my milestone of 19 weeks where I lost Kathleen and I am halfway to holding my little baby boy in my arms. I am so happy and feel so blessed.

I have felt him occasionally since week 15 and very often from week 18. Last night my husband felt him kick for the first time which was wonderful. It is also very evident that he can hear now. On Sunday I went to church in the morning and he was kicking away with the music, and in the evening I went to a concert and he did the same. Hopefully I didn't startle him but he was just jamming along.

My 3 year old son seems to grasp more that there is a baby in mommy's belly. I showed him the picture in week 20 where you see the baby inside a mom's belly. His first reaction was 'oh oh' (maybe he thought baby had been swallowed) but since then he seems to understand better there is really a baby in my belly. This morning he waved and said hi to baby; it was so cute.

We still haven't found a name for our baby boy so for now he is baby K as we know we want the name to start with K - it is just a matter of agreeing on one!

I am loving shopping for my little boy. I am a bit of a bargain hunter though and have found a second hand mother's store where they have a monthly 25c sale. My little man already has so much clothes and he is going to look so cute! Being we just recently moved half around the world I sold all my baby clothes which means I now get to start all over and I am not complaining :)

Although I am halfway there 40 weeks still seem like a long ways away! I am also not looking forward to injecting myself with Lovenox for another 20 weeks as I am now starting to bruise really badly, getting lumps and feeling sore, but it is of course all worth it!

Love to everyone!
Karin

Congratulations Karin on reaching your own personal milestone. Half way! Nice to hear you are buying lots of nice things for him. I'm not buying too much because people keep telling me not to. Gonna buy some blankets, sheets etc at the end of the month, and organise which cot we want to buy too. Keep well x

Karin I am so happy for you! 20 weeks is such a milestone in any pregnancy, let alone when you have experienced a previous loss. And feeling those kicks is the most wonderful thing in the world! As for the shots, I found that the slower I injected, the less bruising I would get. Also, some people say to ice the area before injecting and it won't be so bad. Good luck to you!
