12-2-2010 - Full term!!! Super happyMy mood while writing this blog:
Super happy

Can I just say that today is a glorious day?? I am full term!!! Max 14 days to go! I am just so happy and excited.

I had my weekly u/s and appointment today and Kaden is still doing super. We are in and out of the u/s in about 5 min because he does all he needs to right away, yay. My tech person tried as usual to get a 4D picture for me but he has the cord in front of his face and it makes it look like he has a very flat nose - she reassures me though that he doesn't, lol. It will be the last time I see my favorite tech person as I couldn't get an appointment with her next week - she seemed kind of sad about that as well and made me promise to come in and show her baby Kaden when he is born.

The last couple of days I feel as though there has been less movement and of course that makes me slightly nervous. My OB did say though that it is normal to feel the baby less at this stage and that he may also be moving when I have Braxton Hicks but I won't feel it. But otherwise he said I should feel the baby every 20 min or so, and if I don't to drink something sugary, at which I had to remind him I have GD, lol. He was like 'oh yeah, well some caffeine then'. Hmmm, I don't drink coffee either. I guess I can always drink some diet coke, huh?

I also asked him about increased Braxton Hicks. I have a lot in the evening. Sometimes just a few minutes apart, sometimes half an hour apart, but definitely a lot. Usually they stop when I go to bed but not the last few days and I have woken up with a sore belly. I am slightly nervous I will go into labor in the middle of the night but I am sure it will all work out. At least a friend has offered to come over and 'watch' Kaleb should I go into labor in the night so we don't have to wake him up and take him with us to the hospital. Either way, hopefully Kaden won't decide to enter the world before my mom comes back from Denmark on February 17th - I would hate for her to miss out and it would of course also be really helpful that she can watch Kaleb while we are at the hospital for the birth. Anyway, my OB said that it's only good that I have BH and that they are increasing which means my uterus is probably preparing for labor which will make induction easier, if I don't go early.

My OB mentioned stripping my membranes at 38 weeks as a preparation for the induction. Has anyone had this done??

I am overall feeling really good this week. I feel like I am getting in a bit better shape, able to walk more again etc. I am worn out by the end of the day and have a really sore lower back, but other than that I feel great! After all my bed rest I love being able to get out and about, and also have people ask me how long I have to go - and now I can answer 14 days!!! Praise God!

Much love,
Karin

I know being full term is so exciting! I had the same concerns about fetal movements: My doc told me the best time to check for them is 1 hr after eating and that I should start to feel him move. She said if I go 24hrs w/ no movement to call or if I just notice less movement then my usual cause every baby has different sleeping patterns.

hey karin. i had my membranes stripped with 3 of mine. i do think that it helped me move things along. with some it was very uncomfortable to have done and with some it was not so big a deal. they take their finger and put it into your cervix and try to separate the amniotic sac a little from the edge wall of the cervix. it can sometimes work very quickly and sometimes having it done multiple times helps more. so excited you are full term. hoping you get all the things you are wishing for with your birth! love you and will be praying for you tons. let us know what is happening when!

Congratulations!!! You did it! You made it to full term!Oh I am so excited for you! God is good! Membranes stripped? Not sure if that is the same as having your bag broken, but I did have that done with my son very long ago. They put in a long plastic stick-looking thing with a hook at the end and broke the bag. It was already leaking that is why. Not long until you get to meet Kaden! I can't wait to see his pictures. Keep in touch.

Good news for you, Karin! So happy for you.And I did have my membranes stripped with DS, and it was great. I had nothing negative to report about it. And as for whether it helped or not? No clue, but it didn't hurt. :)
