19-10-2008 - Mason Junius Gary (Birth story)

My mood while writing this blog: so happy

Well I have left this a while Mason is 4mths old now lol.

well after almost 3wks of false labour every evening i had enough and had a stretch n sweep done on the 12th June the day after my EDD and my midwife said I was about 1-2cm dailated and baby was engaged but it didnt look like he would arrive for a few days. so i went home very content with the fact I wasnt going to have a friday 13th baby. we that evening I decided to just enjoy the night as it could be the last night I have to myself. so i took some evening primriose oil in more ways than one(if u know what i mean), enjoyed a nice bath with my 3yr old and sat down to watch some tv once the boys were in bed.

I started getting what I just assumed would be false labour contractions and they were the same as they had been for passed few weeks, I spent the whole night txting friends telling them how over it I was and I was soo sick of all the BS##t contractions but I hadnt actually noticed that they were becoming much stronger. as my 2nd baby had been a 50min labour I wasnt sure weather it would be just as quick, I tried going to bed with a hot water bottle to ease the contractions but I came to a point where I had to get out of the bed and do pelvic rocking and even that was quite painful, so I rang my midwife and asked to got to the birthing unit, it was about 2 or 3am and when she did an internal I was only 2cm!!! but completely thinned out, so half hr later i decided to go home where I stayed for only an hour B4 going back to the unit, my last txt I sent to a friend was at 4:30am with the words, f**k this hurts i want the gas, when I arrived at the unit my midwife took one look at me and new straight away I was deff in active labour.

I got to the unit at about 5am, I asked for the gas straight away as I just wanted to get a bit of sleep which I found the gas had helped me to do with both my previous labours and once again it worked like magic. At 7:20am midwife did a VE and I was 7cm(I was 7cm when my last labour had started!!!) but as she was doing the VE he(the baby) suddenly slammed his head down, it turns out he didnt have his head tucked in properly and when she did the VE he suddenly tucked his head in and flew down very quickly and my goodness it was painful and once that happened things just went very quickly, my waters broke at about 7:40am and I got the urge to push and at 7:51am Mason Junius Gary was born weighing a very shockingly small weight of 6lb 14oz( which is tiny after my last baby being 8lb 8oz). Oh and he was a friday 13th(June) baby lol

17th April - 7th midwife app - 32wks - LOA - HR 140bpm

24th April - 3D scan - 33wks - he looks like his brothers

1st May - 8th midwife app - 34wks - LOA - HR 135bpm

15th May - 9th midwife app - 36wks LOA/LOL - HR 140bpm

21st May - 37wks Braxton hicks getting more noticable and half an hour apart

22nd May - 10th midwife app - 37wks - ROA - HR 140bpm - Got to see my lil boy today as midwife thought he may have turned breech (he hadn't thankfully)

29th May - 11th midwife app - 38wks - ROL - HR 140bpm - Still not engaged after all the exercises I've been doing.

5th June - 12th midwife appt - 39wks - ROA - HR 140bpm - He is finally ENGAGED!!! Any day now.

12th June - 13th midwife appt - 40wks - LOA - HR 140bpm - stretch and sweep - cx 2cm dilated - should have a baby this weekend.

13th June - MASON HAS ARRIVED!!! 40wks 2days - 7:51am - 6lb 14oz - 48cm.

14th June - 1 day old - Brought Mason home

18th June - 5 days old - Big brother Sams 3rd birthday

20th June - 1 week old - weight check - 7lb 2oz - has gained 100gms
