21-8-2008 - Doctors / Hospital

My mood while writing this blog:
Relieved

Well I just got back....my day was definately not boring or worry-free. I went to the OB, they did a culture on me and checked the heart beat. I told the doctor that I feel foolish for coming in b/c its most likely nothing, but since its my first pregnancy, I'm over reacting. Well, she said the heartbeat sounded strong and said that she wanted me to go to the hospital to be monitored for 2-3 hours...like that made me feel good. All that did was make me worry more than anything. So I go to the hospital they check me in, they put the contraction and heartbeat monitor on me and check for any abonormal activity. Hearing his heartbeat and feeling him move kept me reassured. After 2 1/2 hours of being in the hospital, all i wanted to do was go home and hear he was ok. The nurse said that I had mild contractions, nothing big and my cervix was closed. They told me that the test they ran could tell whether or not I would go into labor within 2 weeks and it was negative, which was good. I still do not understand why I had such horrible cramping, it felt as though i was about to get my period and got more intense. She told me if I have any more issues to come back. All in all, everything was fine, I suppose I worried for nothing and feel horrible for wasting time of nurses and doctors. I'm so happy that everything is fine and he is not going to be really pre-mature, but cant help but feel guilty for some reason. I worried the father-to-be and my family for nothing. Oh i dont know. I guess this is just the first false alarm. Hopefully nothing like this happens until my due date :o)

No don't give it another thought when i had my 1st I think I had 5 false runs. & BTW with that belly you are 4 sure having a BOY!! I had 2 Girls & a Boy with the boy I looked Just like you even bigger by the end just a warning ....lol Good Luck..Got to get this set up for my daughter she is due Nov. 20th w/ a Girl her belly is much smaller then yours BTW :) .·:*¨¨*:·.Enjoy Pregnacy.·:*¨¨*:·.

You shouldnt feel guilty etc for wasting anyones time...its your first pregnany and all is new..I always think if you dont feel right or have doubts about anything go to the hospital or your doctors......you are only doing the mommy thing by taking care of your little one ad youself too

I have a family member that is about 30 weeks pregnant, and it seems as if she is in the ER every day/night. She actually was apologizing to the DR for being there so much. You know what the DR said... "its my job to be here" So dont feel bad, for it is your job to take care of yourself and the baby inside you as it is their job to attend you.. Wishing you the best!

You have absolutly no reason to feel guilty! You dont have any idea what to expect in all of this because you have never been pregnant before. And if you have cramping like that, then I can understand you being alarmed by it. I would have gone too. And the doctors and nurses are there for you. It is there job so believe me you are not wasting their time at all. I read the What To Expect book and it says if you feel anything is out of the norm, call your doctor and that is what you did. I am glad everything is ok and that you and baby are ok. Stay well and baby dust to you and your little one! :0)

Do NOT feel guilty at all!!! You did the right thing by listening to your body.....I'm sure your partner and family are happy that all is ok, and that's what matters. I used to always worry about being a 'burden' to my loved ones too. it's silly, and I eventually learnt that they are actually hurt by my sentiments. That's what they are there for!!!! Be good.... ;-)

No you should not feel guily at all. Rather be safe than sorry. Doctors and nurses are their to reasure and help you, so dont feel like you are waisting thier time. And im sure your family apreciate the fact that you care so much for this little life that you listen to your body and take care of yourself. As for the cramping mabey it was just stretching. Sometimes it can be very severe, i know i have also felt them. As long as thier is no blood accompaning with the cramping try not to worry yourself. All the best to you and your little boy. And remeber your a mommy now and this is how mommies react :)
