| 12-2-2009 - Abnormal blood test? | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
My friend said that it wouldn't be anything wrong with the baby, just with me...like anemia or diabetes or something like that. I don't know...what do they test for during the first blood work?
So I called the nurse back today, and she said that I had to go and get more blood work to check my liver. She said the initial blood work showed that I might have been exposed to Hepatitus B at some point. I talked to my dad, and he said that at least 17 years ago or more he found out that he had been exposed to it. He has gone through 20 years of physicals and extensive blood work because he was covered in Agent Orange during the Vietnam War, and through all of that, they have never mentioned it and said that his liver and everthing was in really good order.
The nurse said that my baby is completely healthy, and that it could mean nothing. If it is turns out that I have been exposed or that I have Hep B, she said they would just need to make a some adjustments. One adjustment would be adding an additional round to the traditional 3 round vaccination to Hep B that they give to newborns.
I should get my results sometime mid to late next week. And then we'll go from there. Phew! We'll just see.
