| 26-7-2009 - Because it's been a while | My mood while writing this blog:blah |
OK, so I really just want to go to sleep right now because it has been the longest week. I've been sick with a cold and all I feel like doing is sleeping all day - but I've missed my friends on here, and wanted to catch up because I feel like it's been a while.
I had my 25 week appointment on Tuesday this week. Eli's heartbeat was strong and the nurse found it immediately. It was around 150 bmp. And he was really squirming beforehand - my older sister came with me and she got to feel him moving for the first time, so she was pretty exicted. I really like the doctor I had this week, and if he's available when the time comes, I'd like him to be the one to deliver my baby. The practice I go to has about 7 doctors there, and I've only seen the same one twice so far, and some not at all. I think it's to get you familiar with all the doctors so it won't be a complete stranger when you're in labor. But if I can request him, I'm going to. He answered all my questions, I didn't feel like I was rushed at all, AND he said I was in great shape, which was really nice to hear considering that over the weekend my 7 year old niece had mentioned that she was embarrased by how fat I was. LOL.
He did tell me that they're going to do another ultrasound at 32 weeks however. And then I asked if it was because they needed better pictures of the heart, he said no - that it looked like Eli was storing urine in his left kidney. : ( He then showed me pictures from the previous ultrasound of the right and left kidney and the noticeable size difference between the two. However, he also said that this is something they see pretty frequently now. Whether it's because of the advances in technology, or whatever...it's pretty common. And he said that the cases range from mild to moderate to severe, and my case is mild. It's just something they like to keep track of. He also said it's something that goes away a week after birth and that they're not concerned about it. So I'm not going to be either. I didn't even Google it. I was pretty proud of myself.
Later that night Paul took me out to dinner at Longhorn and I treated myself to a nice steak. Holy crap, when I was eating that cow, it felt like this baby was bouncing up and down in my stomach. And he was SO active the rest of the night! Needless to say, I think he likes steak.
Since I have the day off tomorrow, I'm heading in for my glucose test. Fun fun. My next appointment is in three weeks (so I'll be on evens) and then after that, I'm down to bi-weekly visits already! I can't believe it. Oh, that reminds me - I've gotta call and register for my classes this week. Time is getting away from me.
I have to admit....I'm kinda a little bummed that I don't know when my shower is going to be. My sisters aren't letting me do anything else besides give them a list of people to invite (which I did like a month ago). On one hand, it's nice to be able to sit back and not have to worry about planning something, but on the other hand, I feel like I should be helping out with the food, or games, or something!! I guess I should just relax and enjoy someone else taking charge for a change. : )
Well I hope all you ladies are doing well and had a great weekend!! This update has gotten longer than I planned, so I'm off to go sleep off this sneezing, coughing and congestion. Ugghh.
