| 24-6-2008 - SCAN UPDATE! | My mood while writing this blog:HAPPIER |
Hello!
I just want to say thanks to everyone who posted nice comments and support! it made me feel alot more calmer and helped me to stay positive!
Right, yesterday, Sean and I tootled off to the hospital...I was so nervous! I got up (after being up at 12.20, 3am and 5.30am for a pee!) at 7.30am and did a pee sample BEFORE I had eaten or drank anything followed Wyomings instructions and did the proper midstream test! All day Sunday I was drinking loads of water and hadn't eaten anything sweet since the 19th!
I arrived at hospital and gave the nurse my sample, she tested it and there was NO glucose in my urine. there was only a trace of protein and + leuc. Relief there I think! SO it was down to troffing all those lovely choccie biscuits! but was still a little worried about the white blood cells and protein. She said sometimes, leucs are present but don't turn into anything, like last time, when my results came back OK from the lab. Also, protein levels have gone down since the 19th so thats good and just may be present due to the luc's.
I went for the scan and low and behold, there was a bouncing 8lb11 oz baby in there! seriously, they estimate him to be 9lb 7 if I went to term! all is OK, though large! and the look on Seans face! At least we got to see him again and sa his face in more detail. He's got a lovely profile! Just like his father! (haha) and he looks to be engaged.
I saw the doctor after and she checked my blood pressure. I suffer from anxiety so I don't like being in hospital so my BP tends to go high but, the final test was 138/89 which they were happy about. I have slight swelling to my feet which I get when warm or I have been on them for a while. As you don't normally associate Pre-Eclampsia with big babies, they just assume I may be one of those unlucky women who have large babies! As this is my first, they have nothing to compare it to?
Lab results came back and my glucose fine so I don't have diabetes. As my BP was within range, they don't think I have PE but are checking my BP at home this thursday and sat so I don't have to go into hospital to see how low it can get. They took bloods too to check for PE. Doc thinks that will come back OK.
I have another apt on Monday 30th for an internal and another scan to see if 1) my cervix is doing anything and 2) to check if Harry has put on anymore tonnage!
If so, I assume they will induce me as they don't want me to have a 10lb baby! I just hope that goes OK because I read about inducing and the higher risk of having a C section (which, I am petrified about!)
So, there you are. I will update more on Monday. I just hope little Harry takes it on himself to come over the weekend! I bought some of those raspberry leaf tablets but daren't take them! xx
