28-9-2009 - Things are looking up...

So my little punkin head is almost exclusively breastfeeding now. Yayy! We even took him to breakfast with my in-laws yesterday morning and then took him to visit both our families later in the day. I was so scared of him not nursing while we were out but at my in-laws house I took him in the other room so it was quiet and he nursed like a champ and passed right out afterwards!

Now the only time I'm pumping is at his second middle of the night feeding. He only gets up twice during the night and he sleeps for 4 hour stretches but at his first one he eats for SO LONG! Like almost 40 minutes! So then for his second night time feeding, Eric gives him a bottle (of my breastmilk) and he sucks down 4oz super fast! So while Eric feeds Jackson, I sit next to them on the couch and pump. Thank goodness for the Medela double electric pump! That thing pumps 3-4 oz off each side in under 15 minutes. So much more comfortable and nicer than the Medela hand pump I was using initially. The hand pump doesn't compare to the electric.

I've also been able to get out of the house alot this past weekend. Saturday eric and I took Jack to a pumpkin patch and on a hayride. He slept in the sling the entire time but it was beautiful outside and nice to just get out. Then we visited family yesterday.

So things are looking up. Thursday Jackson and I are going to dinner with one of my best friends (who also happens to be Eric's cousin) so I'm looking forward to that.

Anyways, it's lunch time so gotta go! :)
