03-9-2008 - 15 week check up & Hospital appointment - 29th August & 1st September goodMy mood while writing this blog:
good

I havent updated in a while...I wrote a really long blog the other day and went to save it but my computer stuffed up =( LoL

29th August (15 week check up) - Today I had my 15 week check up with my gyno...His assitant checked my blood pressue and the baby's heart beat was 168 - 170 bpm...she asked if I have felt the baby move and I said in these exact words "Well I dont know if Im trippin out but I feel these sort of butterfly feelings" and she laughed and said "Is it like popcorn popping inside your tummy?" (which is exactly what it's like) and I said "Yeh...that's it" and she said "Well that is the baby moving...it will get more harder and regular as the weeks go on"...(I feel so excited - cant wait to feel the baby full on....God's creatin is magnificent) I didnt get to see the baby she just checked the heart beat with a hand heled machine (which I was suprised about....I thought I would get to see my little one on screen) then my gyno came in and said everything is going great all my results have come back great and do I have any questions for him....I couldnt think of any at the time and then he just said well everything is normal and going great so I will see you in 5 weeks - I was pretty shocked that it was only a 10min appointment and walked out of their feeling kinda betrayed LoL that my appointment was so short!!! As I drove to work that morning I remembered that I did need to ask him 2 questions.... 1. What month am I exactly in?! because I am getting a little confused - I have a pregnancy timeline on my main page and that doesnt seem to be right (can anyone help me out...please) 2. Is there any reason he hasnt put me on vitamins?! I dont know why he hasnt put me on any vitamins...is that norma?! My Mum think's it's because my bloods and vitamin count in good and that's probably why....but I would still like some peice of mind (can anyone help me out with this as well...please)!!!

1st September (Hospital Appointment) - Today I had my hospital appointment which was to book me in for the birth...If I didnt make it to this appointment they would have cancelled my booking, so of course I went in there nice and early LoL I got seen my a lovely midwife...At first it was just a whole lot of paper work that needed to be filled out and then she went through a few pamphlets with me...I also got a FREE "Mum To Be" showbag that had alot of goodies in there - books, vouchers, magazines, samples of creams, heart burn tables, nappies and so on (I thought it was really cool HeHe) then she took me around the "pregnancy ward" for a tour....The rooms were great and very nice and clean - If you have a normal birth then it's 2 people to a room but if you have a Cesarian then you get your own private room (all rooms have a bathroom, toilet and changing room)....the birthing rooms are great - they are big and they all have candles, a cd player, aroma theropy, magazines, books and gym equipment LoL...Oh and they also have 2 big bathrooms which have a spa and all the other stuff besides the gym queipment in them - just incase you want to have a water birth or even induce your labour! I am so so glad I picked this hospital to have my baby in - The staff seem friendly and the room and ward seem nice and clean!

The midwife did mention "birthing / pregnancy" classes to me (it's optional but she suggested I do it as it's my first baby) The cost is $75.00 for 4 weeks and they go through breathing technique, excersises, what to bring to the hospital and so on...I would love to do it as I am kinda freaking out about the whole labour thing BUT Trav think's its a waste of time and we should be fine....HELLO???? He is not the one thats going to be pushing a baby out that is prob the size of a watermellon...We ended up having a big fight over it and in the end he said "If you really wanna do it then you can" Ummmm I dont think he realises that HE NEEDS TO BE THERE WITH ME!!!!! I really dont know what to do....Can anyone else give me some advise on weather the classes are worth doing or not?! Im in two minds about it and I have to book the classes in 2 weeks if I want them to save me a spot for January!!!! PLEASE HELPPPPPPPPPPP LoL

N e ways thats enough from me....sorry the blog was so late and long...Hope all you pregnant ladies are doing great and for all those who are still TTC I wish you all the best and all you ladies are in my prayers! xo

I'm glad everything is well with you and your little one. The assistant is right, it will get stronger as the weeks progress. My boy thinks my cervix is a bongo drum. lol

Hey Girl, you've been on my mind. I definately agree with Heaven, go to the drug store and purchase some prenatal vitamins over the counter. They are important because your body (and baby) needs the extra folic acid they provide and iron to keep you from becoming anemic. About the classes, being that its your 1st child I would appeal to your husband as to the fact that classes absolutely cannot hurt and may provide useful information. Advice is constantly changing and eventually you guys would have to create a system that works but its better to at least have game plan than come home with just "ok, here's your new bub...have at it!" Besides, as a new mom, I know I'm seeking as much advice as possible just for reassurance. Good Luck! Baby Dust!

first off your are about 4 months pregnant. yaay! congrats! and you SHOULD be on vitamins even if you are healthy the baby takes away your vitamins so you need a little extra for yourself :-) if your doctor hasnt prescribed any to you yet then you can go to the drug store and purchase some over the counter until you get a chance to ask him.
oh and from now on your doctors appointment will pretty much be 10-15 minutes long. all they do is check your weight and blood pressure, see how big your uterus is and then check the babys heartrate and your good to go. dont worry once you start going every week it will get tiring.
I'm also in the same situation with the birthing classes. My boyfriend doesnt want to go with me and doesnt think they are necessary so i didnt sign up. but why do you need to sign up Months in advance!? that is sooo early to even consider it. I have my tour of the maternity ward at the hospital in two weeks :-) i cant wait!
