09-12-2008 - 30 week check up - 9th December 2008

My mood while writing this blog:
Happy and Freaking Out

So I had my 30 week check up yesturday...

My blood pressure was great (120/160) *no idea what that means* but she said it was good LOL!

The baby's crown to rump is measuring at 30cm (11.8 inches) the doc said that is great and right on track *woo hoo...I have a feeling it's going to be a long baby*, the baby's heart beat was 168bpm and going strong...Since I am doing so well he doesnt need to see me in two weeks - I will go back at 34weeks and possibly every week from there on in!

When I pulled up my top for him to check my tummy...I pointed out my "YUCKY" stretch marks and he just laughed and said...If your going to get them - your going to get them LOL but dont worry they go away and fade out after (well thats good to know) but what about now...It getting to the point where I dont even wanna look at my belly...it's not alot - just a few but they look lyk deep tissue scars or something...Im just gonna get Trav to keep rubbing cream and olive oil on my tummy! HeHe

So I had a bit of a moment on Monday while I was arranging the baby's room - "OMG I have life growing inside of me" it was just like "wooooooowwwwww" God is so amazing!

And now today as I sit here typing this I am totally freaking out - I feel like when the baby comes I wont know what to do.....I think for the most part "breast feeding and pumping" is getting to me - I plan on breast feeding for as long as I can but I am only on materinty leave for 3months, so when I go back to work I plan on pumping and breast feeding....My Mum and Mother In Law will be looking after the baby during the day so I will obviously have to pump for them to feed the baby - my issue is....How many times a day / night should I pump for the next day?! I know they say that you should pump at the times when your baby would feed....but I cant pump at work - I dont have any privacy as my desk is an open "both" and we dont have a seperate male / female toilet! Also if I pump a whole lot at night or early morning (and not during the day at work) and I freeze or refrigerate my milk will it be enough for the next day or will my supply go down?! I feel like I need to do my research but where do I start.....It's all just getting to me and I seriously want to cry - I cant even ask my Mum or Mother In Law because they were on maternity for at least 1year so they have no clue how pumping and stuff works!!!! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT LADIES!!!!

My stretch marks really did fade - Honestly over the years never notice them. ( Very few times did they catch my eye - usually if looking for them. Nursing - guessing you may want to look into asking if they have a private room. ( I have heard around here by law they need to allow moms a room to pump at least once a day) - If you can't don't worry . It would just be nice so that when you are home you can nurse your baby and enjoy instead of just doing a bunch of pumping... My appt is today! :-) Hope it goes as well..... My mom come with 1st time so yeh!!!!

Your blood pressure was probably 120/60. lol.
120/160 doesn't make any sense. :) But that's a great blood pressure. Perfectly healthy.
And I know what you mean by freaking out every once in awhile.... I can't believe I have 11 weeks left! When you really consider that.... it's truly overwhelming. How awesome though.... to go through the holidays with these beautiful bellies to be proud of. I'm very excited to get school over with and focus on Christmas. :)

You will do just fine! It is normal to get a little nervous as the days draw nearer..
I use Bio Oil (they say it isnt greasy but it takes AGES to soak in but I do believe it is good)
As for the expressing - I now that it sounds a little gross to express in the loo (especiallya multi user one!) but it is true that you will basically manafacture what (and when) you pump. Unlesss you work 7 days, you will want to be able to feed during the day on the weekend too so trying to keep at least a similar routine is important STILL with all of that - dont worry too much (I dont know if you are aware but stress can reduce milk flow too!) it will all work out ok, I am sure.
I had SO much milk that I could express 2 feeds in one go! If you express some after you've just finished a feed you may get enough supply up that you too can do this. Of course you will need to give yourself some settling in time first then try and get some extra squirt going (remember you can freeze breast milk so you can get a bit of a store up) . I have breastfed all of my children until they were one year old so if you have any questions I am here. (sorry for the long comments!!!)

You should try the Palmer's Pregnancy Balm.. It will help with the stretch marks.. Luckily I haven't had one to pop up since I been using that daily.. I know how you're feeling it's like as the time get's closer I began to get scared.. I know I'll make a good mom but it's just the thought of Wow I am carrying this precious life inside of me.. Anxious and scared at the same time..
