07-10-2008 - I want it to be over!

My mood while writing this blog: Confused, hurting and fed up!

Ok so heres whats happening with me so far...

I had an U/S on Friday because my 20 week U/S saw a problem with my baby's left kidney.. Thankfully that problem has resolved itself BUT now there appears to be a new problem, according to the measurements my baby now weighs 5lb 13oz and is over the 95th centile on the growth charts, which is way too big for my dates... to back this up my fundal height measurement is 37cm and it should be 32cm, so i am measuring almost full term already. Apparently babies double their weight in the last 8 weeks so my baby could be over 10lb. I saw the consultant yesterday and she seems to want to induce me early to prevent baby becoming too big which could cause a number of problems during delivery like 'shoulder dystocia' where the shoulders get stuck and then become dislocated during delivery. I'm feeling quite upset and confused as the thought of induction or c-section scares me but equally the thought of my baby or myself being injured during delivery is just as scary! I have no idea what to do! I have been reading about this on the internet but i think thats making it worse. I have to have another GTT next week to rule out gestational diabetes, then i have to have another scan around 35 weeks, then its back to the consultant to discuss whats going to happen. Soooo fed up, i'm heavy and uncomfortable, everything hurts, especially my hips, back and ribs. I can't sleep properly, I have acid indigestion which comes whenever it wants wether i eat or not and feels like someone has set fire to my throat. I want it to be over now.....

I had a measurement scan done at 30+3wks,and baby was measuring 3lbs 14oz, they said this was perfectly normal and all babies grow at different rates, some speed up some slow down but mostly end up around same weight, they estimated no bigger than 8lb full term, At 33 weeks she was measuring 4lbs 12oz so its about 1lb a month they put on, Ive bene told shes quite small and wont be a whopper my midwife said, :laugh, my daughter was 5 days late at 7.7lbs and they have said she will be about the same,
They estimated her again at 34 weeks and said about 5lbs 3oz, I wouldnt worry too much as ive always been told they count within 2 weeks growth all the time, they become concerned if its way over,
I see what you mena though at measuring 37 weeks at 32 weeks, I had a scan at 28weeks with my first daughter and some measurments where about 35weeks and she was as ive said 7.7lbs they are not alwasy correct, My friend had a section because they said her baby was big and he was full term and only 6lbs,!!!

hey there...I'm with you on wanting the pregnancy to be over soon...at my 29 week ultrasound the baby weighed in at a whoping 3lbs6oz, which means by now 4 weeks later, the baby is probably around the same size as yours. So I think I'm going early too...but you know what that 40wks is only a guideline, you have to put your trust in God, He knows exactly what's needed right now. Stay calm..it's so important to stay calm and stop reading what's on the internet...that seems to always make it worse. I'll be praying for you both, your going to come out of this beautifully...with a healthy baby.

Well in 3 more weeks I'd have them induce you or go in for a c-section. Better to be safe than sorry for you and the baby. Do what is best for you both.
Heck I'd be happy to go 4 or 5 weeks early.
At 36-37 weeks the baby is full term and the lungs are developed and the weight will be great.
So relax and calm down....... don't worry about going early. It's just a blessing once the baby is here safe in your arms. We are all here for you!!!
