21-7-2009 - U/S update - with a twist!!!!

My mood while writing this blog: Shocked, scared, happy beyond words and blessed!

21 July 2009 - I had my first ultrasound today....I kept praying the baby shud be in uterus with a strong heartbeat and growth matching my week..

I was excited that the same U/S tech who performed the scan for my daughter has been assigned for today's session as well..She is so cool..She first did an abdominal scan to make sure there is nothing on top of the uterus and also checked for tilted uterus. It was all good..so she moved onto transvaginal scan..

I was just staring at the screen looking for a bean..and there I saw it..but there was something on top of the bean and I remarked oh, that's the baby on the bottom and the yolk sac on top..My husband was standing with our daughter in hand and looking excitedly at the screen...the U/S tech kept looking at the screen and she said " Dad, you might wanna sit down"...I got so scared and looked at her and asked why what's wrong..

She smiled and said, girl, that one on top is not the yolk sac..it's another baby...You are having twins!!

I screamed What??????? I just cud not believe my eyes..My hubby was shocked too and we just kept staring the screen...then she moved the wand in such a way that we could see both babies..She pointed there is baby A and this is Baby B...Tears started rolling down and I could not believe my own eyes..The feeling I had at that moment was unexplainable...but it felt out of the world..Baby A's heartbeat is at 170bpm and Baby B is 167 BPM..Both of them measured exactly at 8 weeks and 2 days..so that confirms my due date as Feb 28 2010. But Doc does not think they will let me go until that time..Usually for twins, they induce around 34 to 36 weeks it seems..I will be considered high risk from 20 weeks and have scan every 2 weeks it seems..I am very very scared but excited at the same time..

I don't know what we did to deserve this gift from God but we feel really really blessed..Now we just hope and pray that both babies do good and come out healthy at full term..
