Help Me Please… I went to register for my shower and became overwhelmed looking at Breast Pumps. Does anyone have a pump that they love?

Sunday, 9 Nov I went to babiesrus and checked out all the feedback. I didn't want to spend a ton. so I ended up chosing the Lansinoh double breast pump. I wanted the double for when I'm back at work to save time. It was listed for $150-160 at Target/BRU/Walmart. I found a new one on ebay with a buy it now price of $80. =) I have only ever borrowed pumps before so this will be my first purchase. When I get it, I'll let you know what I think. rahomsw -
Sunday, 9 Nov Hey there - I've been told by a lot of people that the Medela Pump In Style Advanced is the one to get. Might want to check and see if your insurance company will cover it with a rx from your doctor. Mine does. bbsgirl -
Sunday, 9 Nov Hi-I had no clue where to start either with a breast pump. I did ALOT of research and ask alot of exeperienced mothers and this is what I found out: the breast pump you choose depends alot on what you plan to do with it. If you are going back to work shortly after having the baby and are committed to breastfeeding then investing in a really nice breast pump it worth it. Cosumer reports rates the Medela hands free backpack one as the best- its also like $279.00. If you aren't sure how much you will really use one or are planning on staying home then the less expensive models will work fine. Medela still seemed to get the good ratings on all of their models. Also, lots of mothers cautioned even buying one until after the baby is born and you are sure you can breastfeed-as some women just have a really hard time. My sister recommended renting one from the hospital. They have the professional grade breast pumps that can be sterilized and rented on a monthly basis and it is very affordable. Unless it is from the hosipital, everything i read said not to borrow or buy a used breast pump as there is no real way to sterilize it. Oh, also on ebay there are lots of new medela's up for bid all the time. I decided to buy one myself after the baby is born, so people could buy something i was sure i wanted and would use on the registry. Hope this Helps- ADRIENNE marchmomma84 -
Sunday, 9 Nov I heard Medula is the best brand. I haven't had the chance to use mine yet so I'm not really sure how it's going to work (I'm only 20 weeks) I was going to get a double pump but then I decided to get a single one because with the double both of your hands are occupied holding the pumps to your breast. If you get the REALLY expensive one it's hands free but I wasn't going to spend that much money on something that I wasn't sure was going to work for me or not. And of coarse you can't get your money back for them. I spent $150 on my Medula brand single breast pump.
