19-1-2009 - Daisy's birth story

Carrying Daisy was pretty easy. I think I only threw up twice during the whole time. I was so exhausted during the first tirmester, though. I became pregnant during our first month of TTC. I didn't expect it to happen quite so quickly, it was shocking. I was 23 and my husband was 24. Due to my Type 1 diabetes and hypothyroidism, we were classified as a high risk pregnancy. Most diabetics are induced between 37 and 39 weeks for fear of the baby getting too large. We were scheduled to be induced on week 39. I carried her all the way to 37 weeks and 4 days without a single problem. When we went in for our weekly doctor appointment and bi-weekly ultrasound ( close to the end, it felt like we were always at the ob/gyn) we were told that her amniotic fluid was low. We were admitted and I was pumped full of fluids in an effort to increase her fluid. The next day, they repeated the ultrasound and her fluid was still too low and she wasn't as wiggly as she should have been. So, we were induced. We were induced at noon on Saturday, September 22,2007.I didn't feel anything until about 6pm and by 8pm I was begging for the epidural. I think I had such a hard time because they wouldn't let me up out of bed to walk around. I had three IV's and two belts around my tummy. After I got my epidural, it was sooo much easier. At 2am, I was ready to push. I couldn't push with every contraction because my heart was going too fast, which caused Daisy's heart to speed up. It took forever to push her out. She would have been out much sooner if I could have pushed with every contraction. Daisy Marie Moreno came into the world on Sunday, Septmeber 23rd 2007 at 3:12am. She weighed 6lb 8oz and was 21 inches long.

I can honestly say that I was reborn on that day.
