28-3-2009 - excited/exhausted/a little bummed 32 days!My mood while writing this blog:
32 days!

We have 32 days to go until we get our big ultrasound to check for any abnormalities and gender. Diabetics tend to have a slightly higher risk for abnormalities than do other women. I am sure the baby is fine, my blood sugars were in pretty good control when I conceived and have been in tight control since we got the bfp. There are two good things about being high risk, we get to find out the gender at week at 18 rather than week 20 and if I have any sort of problem, froma headache to a nosebleed, they get me in to see a doctor within an hour. I would trade all that just to able to go into labor on my own. At my last appointment I asked if I would be allowed to carry to 40 weeks and this doctor said absolutly NOT! The person that told me I would be able to go all the way at my 1st appointment was a nurse practioner. I was upset and asked him why did our plan change from one provider to another and he just shrugged his shoulders and said I shouldn't be seeing a nurse practioner since I am high risk. I said "Well, DUH!" That is what I said when I scheduled my appointment, but the scheduler said everyone sees nurse practioners sometimes. Some of those schedulers (not all) are just glorified receptionists with next to no medical knoweledge. So, it looks like this pregnancy too, if I don't go into labor by week 38-39 on my own, it will be scheduled induction. Grrr! I hated being induced last time. I always had that fantasy of calling my hubby at work or waking him up and telling him "It's time!" Oh well, if it is whats safest for baby. I just wish I would ave known I was going to get diabetes when I was 21, and I would have gotten pregnant when I was 20, atleast I could ave had one perfectly normal, healthy, non-diabetic pregnancy.
