Dear Carter,
Well my little man, you are now 4 ½ months old. I can not believe it. Some days when I pick you up, you feel so tiny still, and other times you just look so big. It feels like you have been in the family forever…I guess you were just destined to be a part of “us.”
At about three months old, you transitioned to your own bed. You are sharing a room with Jake and he loves having the company. It might seem odd to some that we are having you boys share a room when we have a five bedroom house, but Daddy and I just thought you would love to have someone to sleep with so neither one of you get scared in the middle of the night.
Your daddy has been working a lot lately, which makes it kind of busy at home. I get a little depressed because I feel like I am running around so much…trying to keep my head above water…that I don’t get to spend as much time with you as much as I would like. I have also been very busy for the last six weekends and I have missed so much.
Your discoveries
Rolling over: You started rolling over several months ago, but only do it at your leisure. Sometimes you go weeks without showing off and then all of the sudden you decide to whip out your tricks and roll over several times.
Objects: Every object that you notice must be shoved in your mouth immediately. This could be my hands, your hands, your blankies, your bib, or toys…it’s like you have a suction vacuum attached to your mouth; things go in so fast.
Toes: Ohhhh, you love your toes. Some days getting them in your mouth requires a little more work and maneuvering around your tummy.
Laughing: I love your laugh. Thinking about it right now actually makes me tear up. You are most giggly when you are on your changing table. I don’t know if it is my proximity to your face that makes you so happy or you just like your changing pad. Who knows, but I’ll take it!
Bathtime: My favorite ritual is to take a bath with you. I have you lay on my lap, so just a bit of water covers your tummy and legs. You love to kick, kick, kick! Thank goodness we have such a deep tub. Otherwise, the bathroom would be covered with your splashes. Grace also loves to take a tub with you. She will hold you in her lap and let us wash you.
Food: You haven’t discovered or shown interest in real food yet. I am still breastfeeding and will probably continue until you are about 8-10 months old.
Nightime: You have yet to sleep through the night. Your daddy and I are soooo tired. You still wake up about every three hours, although you have had a couple four hour stretches in the last couple of weeks.
I love you with my whole heart little man!
Love Always,
Mommy
