09-12-2008 - The day I found out I was pregnant with Carter

Well, hello little sweet thing. Today I found out I am pregnant. I couldn’t wait to take the test, so I actually woke up at 3:00 am to try it. The line on the HPT came out very feint and I didn’t know if I was actually seeing correctly, so I went and woke up your daddy. Sure enough, it is positive. I have been counting out the days until I could find out. I took a test two days ago and it came up negative and I was so disappointed. I want you so very badly. I am so excited. After we saw the positive test result this time, Daddy kissed you and welcomed you to the world.

I can not wait to tell the world about you, but I know I should wait a couple of weeks at least. Your big sister Grace is going to be so excited too. She has been asking for you since Jake was born. You are going to complete our family.

I’ve been thinking about names for the last couple of months and am not really sure who you will go by just yet. Grace wants to name you Ella if you are a girl. I love the name, but we have a dog named Ellie, so I am concerned that people will get confused if we name you something so similar. I really like the name Carter if you are a boy. It’s a strong name. I like James for a middle name. I really think you should be named after someone in our family. I have a very sweet Great-aunt named Ella, so I really think the name would be a good one, but we’ll have to see if something comes to me stronger.

When I first found out I was pregnant with Grace, I was scared, nervous, and excited. I didn’t know what to expect because she was my first. With Jake, I was a little shocked. While Jake was by no means an “accident,” we weren’t seriously trying to have a baby just yet. We were planning on truly trying for him a couple months later. With you, I am just purely ecstatic. Once I got over my nervousness and shock with Grace and Jake, I was ecstatic too, but I had to overcome those obstacles first.

Having a baby is the most amazing experience. With you, I am paying attention to my body, watching…waiting for the changes. I can’t wait to hear your heartbeat, feel you move inside me and hold you in my arms. Babies are one of the most miraculous life experiences. I am so excited you chose me.
