Dear Kids,
I read something today that talked about how fast our children grow up and that it is very important to take a moment and enjoy you before your childhood is over. So, I am making a promise to myself that I will enjoy you more that I already do. I will take things less seriously and put off chores if I have to.
Last night you both decided to go for pony rides. Grace with your always creative imagination decided that Jakie’s Halloween basket would make the perfect riding helmet. With that figured out, you used a wooden window dowel as your pony. You both took turns wearing the helmet and riding the stick around the house. You even rode together with Jakie holding on behind. It was the most adorable thing I have ever witnessed. It always amazes me how you two can take something so simple or non-descript and turn it into the best game ever. I am very proud of the fact that you don’t rely on fancy toys, TV, or video games to keep you entertained. All you really need is a stick and a basket.
I love you both so very much!!!

A couple of weeks ago, Daddy and I were putting Grace’s bunkbed together. While we were occupied upstairs, you both were watching a movie downstairs. I kept creeping down the stairs to check on you and make sure everything was going ok and that you weren’t getting into something you shouldn’t. Well….
My next trip down the stairs will probably be one of my most memorable visions of you two. Jakie was sitting in Daddy’s recliner, while Grace was lounging on the couch. Both of you were totally engrossed in the Barney movie. The memorable part of this moment was that you both had interesting items on your head. Jakie had picked out our little blue popcorn bowl (that fit his head perfectly), while Grace had our stainless steel colander on her head. After several seconds you finally noticed me looking and were quick to point out that you were wearing “hats.” It was so totally adorable. You were both so proud. I almost felt my heart bursting at that moment with love and appreciation that you were given to me. Thank you for that special, special memory.
