Dear Baby Boy!
Well, on Tuesday the 5th, we found out you are going to be a little boy. We are all ecstatic; although I do have to admit that when I look at Grace I realize that I will never have a little baby girl again. There’s some sort of finality to it all. I am sure I would have felt the same if you were a girl and I started looking at Jake and realizing that I would never have a sweet baby boy. Anyway, I knew from the moment the ultrasound machine touched my tummy that you were a boy. There was no hiding it.
We think your name will be Carter James, but we can’t say that we are 100% sure. I love the name and so does your daddy, but we want to be open just in case something else comes along or you are born and don’t look like a Carter at all.
You are moving around quite a bit now. Daddy hasn’t been able to feel you yet, but it’s probably only a matter of a week or so, before your movements get very strong. At our doctor’s appt. the ultrasound tech said you were about 14.5 ounces and probably around 10” long. We were able to watch you move around, trying to put your thumb in your mouth. It was so very sweet.
So far I am doing really well with you. Of course there are always the minor aches and pains, but nothing that would make me too uncomfortable. I have been pretty sleepy, but that could be because of your two very busy (and early rising) siblings. Jake woke up at 5:30 am this morning and was all ready to go. I think you and Jake will be so good together. You will both have each other to play with and burn off excess energy. Grace is so excited for you. She talks about holding you and walking with you and feeding you. She has such a maternal instinct.
I love you little baby boy! I can’t wait to hold you in my arms and smell that sweet smell. Some of my most favorite memories of Jake and Grace as babies are when we would have some quiet time and I would be able to lay down with them on the couch and tuck them right into my side and just sleep together. I can’t wait to experience the same with you.
Love Always,
Mommy
