26-3-2009 - Embryo Donors

I have been speaking with the fertility center that I went to last year and have been asking them about Embryo Adoption. They don't do that but they do have a program called Embryo Donations. It's when a couple (or single person) has left over embryos that are in cryopreservation storage after having all the children they want and donate them to a couple in need. THAT WOULD BE ME & HUBBY. You have to fill out a profile and meet with a social worker. Once that is done and all tests are current (which ours are until 11/2009), they put you on a waiting list for embryos. I was told it usually takes about 4 months and only costs $5000-7000 complete. This is much less than donor eggs or adoption so we are very excited. They are sending me out paperwork and the profile today. Once we get it, hubby & I will discuss a little further and decide when (or if) we want to start. I'll keep you all posted.

UPDATE: April 21, 2009 - Hubby and I think we may go thru with this in late summer/early fall so we can enjoy one last summer of travel/sightseeing. They say the wait is about 6 months so hopefully my first transfer will be sometime in December/January. I'll keep you all posted on this in a few months.
