18-11-2009 - What a difference a good dr. makes

My mood while writing this blog:
Happy

So last night was quite the drama. But I'll tell you now this story has a happy ending. So at work I go to the bathroom and I see spotting. I of course freak out. I left work and drove to the ER. I balled the whole way there. I was so upset. I couldn't get a hold of my husband to meet me there and he was in his class so I couldn't go get him. So I go to the ER and they do an ultrasond and exam. It being the ER their biggest concern is whether or not it was an ectopic pregnancy. Once they saw that it wasn't they weren't really concerned about much else. What little they did tell me is that the pregnancy looked closer to 4 weeks than 6 weeks. So I am naturally distraught. It kept going through my head that no way could this happen again. Twice in one year just seemed so unfair. So they told me to follow up with OB within the next couple days. I wasn't really too eager but my husband really wanted some information since he wasn't at the ER with me. So he talked OB into seeing us today. We went in there totally defeated. They did the initial hand exam and all they said was I seem really early on still. The dr comes in and does and ultrasound, actually zooms in and almost right away she says she can see a heartbeat! We were sooo excited!! We both got to see the heartbeat flickering away. She even turned the sound on and we could hear it. Just barely since it's still so early of course, but we were so relieved. I got a bit teary eyed and my husband totally cried. We're just so releived and happy. Our little one has a heartbeat. 127 she said. I got to my regularly scheduled ultrasound on the 2. I'm really looking forward to that one as well to see how much the bab has grown. So lots of tears and drama last night, but everything is ok.... :)

Arr am really pleased everything is ok hun, same thing happened to me with this little one. I had spotting at 5 & a half weeks and had to go back after 6wks to make sure bump had a heartbeat - its the most amazing feeling in the world the first time you see you little ones heart beating...congratulations hun. Stay strong and stay positive, them little beans are stronger than us! Love jojo xx
