| 13-4-2008 - The D&C | My mood while writing this blog:relieved and tired |
I had my D&C on Friday morning. I was so scared during the ride to the hospital. I just sat there in my pj's wondering what everything would be like. I forgot to mention to all of you that I had the surgery done at the hospital that I work at. That made everything so much easier for me. I pretty much knew everyone that worked with me on that day so I felt really comfortable and cared for. I have never had a male doctor in my life, but I made the decision to have a male Obgyn and male anesthesiologist. I chose them because I knew that they were the best that our hospital has and that they have several years of experience. As soon as I got into the surgical day stay area the nerves went away. The staff was very empathetic to my situation. The doctors came by and explained everything to me. I said my goodbye's to my husband and parents and then they wheeled me to the OR. I started to cry a little bit as soon as I entered the OR. It was very eerie in there. I had been in the OR before, but only when our hospital had the grand opening of the new operating rooms last year. I guess it is different when you are the patient having the procedure. The OR was very cold and there was music playing, George Winston to be exact. They had me slide over to the OR table and then they put an oxygen mask on me. The last thing that I remember is the anesthesiologist saying "now here comes the good stuff". After that I was out cold. Then I woke up in recovery with my family by my side. I felt great, happy that it was over with. Barely any cramps and no bleeding! I still feel pretty well physically. Emotionally I'm still very sad. I had to go to a pancake breakfast this morning and sure enough there were babies and pregnant women everywhere. I just wanted to leave. Oh well, hopefully it will be my turn soon. I just want a child, more than anyone will ever know. Well...except for you girls, we're all in the same boat...wishing and praying that our day will come real soon!
