10-3-2011 - Mya\'s birth story

My mood while writing this blog: happy

so... as most of you know baby Mya was due 20/2/11 but decided to arrive 9 days late on 1/3/11!! i was frantic and thought she would never come, I was due to have an induction of labour on the 4th march if she didn't arrive before...but she did thank goodness as Danyal did too! was so glad not to have and induction as i didn't want any medical intervention and that was mainly needles and drugs!

So she was born on Tuesday 1st March my nieces 6th birthday!! how about that we was so happy and so was she! it all started when i started to loose my show or mucus plug from the Sat evening....i had a little backache but nothing really else developed from there, until the day before i had her Monday morning i starting having contractions i continued to slowly loose my plug each day, but there were 10 mins to 15 mins apart so pretty irregular, so i carried on as normal had a bath and went to sleep with Danyal as he was tired when i woke they had stopped, i felt let down as i hoped this was it, so nothing then until Tuesday afternoon backache was constant right down low but i was used to it being there so took no notice, it was only about 4.30pm on Tuesday they started up again, i had my mom and her fella here so was chatting away but started to take note of the time with each one and they were quite painful but bearable, my mom noticed me whinceing and asked me was i ok, i said nope my pains have started again so she said how far am they apart, to which i answered every 10 mins again, anyway her bloke wanted to go and so i told her to go with him she wanted to stay but i said knowing my luck they would come to nothing again as the day before so i said go on home ill call if they get worse, so she went reluctantly.....

well 10 mins after she went they got to 7 mins apart so i called Mo as he was working a good hour and halfs drive away, and the hospital as i was getting the dreaded pressure in my bum too and i knew i couldn't be too far away if i felt that....this was about 6.30pm as from 6pm the contractions started to come every 5 mins, and mo phoned my mom and she was straight back up here in a taxi and she helped me time them and sure enough they were every 5 mins, the hospital said oh well unless ur waters had broke or are closer together you may as well stay home until things change i was upset by this and started to cry as i felt as though they didn't care, so Mo started to make his way home and arrived here about 7.30pm Eastenders had just come on and i couldnt watch it for the pain and i never miss an episode usually haha! well before he got home some times the contractions were 2-3 mins apart and i sat on the end of the sofa kicking my leg out with every pain until it went off and mom was freaking out saying if Mo doesn't pull up soon she's calling an ambulance i said No don't he'll be here, and when he came back he quickly washed and changed, ( his job is dusty and dirty and didn't wanna go mucky cause of holding the baby) i was moaning and crying telling him to hurry, so he grabbed my bags and we went to the car mom stayed with danyal and ellie, i cried more as i left and said goodbye to them.....

it took about 15 mins to reach the hospital i got out the car and another pain come i couldn't walk i had to grab the car until it went off, when it did i managed to get to the entrance and another one came i had to hold onto the public phones, then i made it to the delivery suite, again i had to stop along the corridoor and hold on to the wall, i don't know how i made it walking but knew it would help with progress, so went to the reception to be put into triage waiting room where there was 3 women and there partners waiting in front of me!!! we arrived at 8pm, and i sat in that crowded room watching the clock in agony, i could see the other women wernt they were relaxed chatting away they were only in for monitoring! i said to Mo WTF why have they put me in this bloody room for, im in labour FFS sorry bout the french but i sat there for 30 mins watching the clock pains still every 5 mins or less, i said tell them i need to jump this queue and i wanna lie down im in soo much pain...so he went to tell them they ignored him at first so he said 'look my wifes in labour! she cannot bear being in there no more can you please see her right away!!

well he came back to sit with me and a couple of minutes later she called me into the triage bay at this point it was about 8.40pm and tears rolled down my face i was in so much pain, she asked me to undress at the bottom and get on the bed i tried to but couldnt for the pain so Mo helped me on, she checked me and i was 6 cms! she was like OOH my god i get you a room! i said i knew it! these pains were too intense! she got me in my own room at 9pm and got me a midwife who would stay with me now until she was born, so she asked do i wanna get into my nightie as i wouldn't be long away i thought i would be a while as id need to dilate another 4 cm's yet, so i tried to get up to change but couldnt so i stayed in my normal top,

she offered me gas and air that's all i could have i didn't have anything before and agreed to try it but didn't want anything else, so as she filled in some papers got some towels etc... i used the gas and air the pains were right on top of each other now and the pressure in my bum was immense i kept saying it feels like i need a poo i knew that wasn't the case that indeed it was her head pushing right down! she replied yes that will get more and more intense now, straight after that my waters broke, i was amazed this had never happened before i'd always have to have them broke for me, it felt weird hot and never ending lol!

after that omg everything kicked up a gear and the urge to push was so very strong she didn't even tell me if i was complete and could push i had to hold back for a second and ask her she said yes do what your body's telling you now and go for it, but she took the gas and air away from me as she said i needed to concerntrate! that stuff is ace thou it didn't take the pain away but it takes you away from it abit i was away with fairies lol!

so with the next contraction, i grabbed Mo close i think i had him round the neck well the crook of my arm round his neck as with the pains i kept pushing myself up off the bed so he was my hoist i suppose lol! well with the pain my body leaned forward and i pushed and it felt great i remember that sting as her head was crowning and then she asked me to stop and pant, then she said ok steph one little push and she will be here so i did, and there she was, it didn't seem half as much effort pushing her out compared to danyal he head seemed harder to deliver and i felt as though my face was gonna explode but not this time it was so spontanious it was magical, so baby Mya was born at 21.21pm 1/3/11 after only being in my own room 25 minutes, imagine if i hadn't spoke up they would of left me there in triage waiting room Mo said they were only gassing typical! my waters would of broke infront of them people and god knows what else if only they took me serious! mind you her face was a picture when she realised i was in established labour it took 45 minutes for me to get from 6 cm's to 10 and to have her in my arms! so much for 1cm and hour on average!

And she was sooooo perfect, and looked so tiny she let out a loud cry and i cuddled her in my arms, they weighed her and she was 7lbs 10oz! 2oz bigger than he brother was, bless her being so late thou her skin is so dry and peeling, we have to apply olive oil daily, but she's gorgeous we adore her, evern danyal he strokes her head and kisses her all day bless him!

sorry its a long read but i wanted to include all that i could remember, so roughly 5 hours after the pains re-started at 10 mins apart then to 5 mins apart from 6pm i had her that was quick i think xxx
