| 02-1-2010 - is it 24 weeks for viability?? |
My mood while writing this blog: confused |
just wondering if 24 weeks is when your baby is 'viable'?? some people say 25 weeks but when i lost my son i couldnt register his birth or death because he was under 24 weeks gestion. Its not something i am worrying about but i am just curious as someone mentioned to me for some reason and it sort of stuck in my head lol

Saturday, 2 Jan I have heard of baby's surviving at 24-25 weeks but normally they are still very under developed an usually pass. Now at 28 weeks there is a better chance for survival. Not sure I think at 20 weeks and under its a miscarriage and 20 weeks and above its a baby but normally viable at 28 weeks. Darn now your going to make me look for the paper L&D gave me last year. =] beebee16 -
Saturday, 2 Jan i think it is 24 weeks. Just been reading a story in a magazine & the hospital had said that if the baby was born before 24 weeks that they wouldn't attempt to keep the baby alive because it is classed as a miscarriage before that time (the baby surivived!!). How's things going with you and the baby, hope all is okay. I'm nearly 38 weeks now, can't believe how quick it has gone......i'm getting so excited now! x roosa -
Saturday, 2 Jan I have heard 24 weeks, and even 23. The youngest baby born and survived was 22 weeks and 6 days. The mom actually lied to the doctors about the baby's age or they wouldn't have tried to rescue her. You can read the article here: http://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2007/02/worlds_youngest.html
