20-3-2010 - when to pack hospital bags?

I have 6 weeks to go on tuesday until my due date but will be having a c section at 38 or 39 weeks but wont know until April 12th! I feel really keen to pack my hospital bags now so i will be ready and incase i have to go in early for some reason so my husband will know that i have everything that is needed in a bag at the ready ( you know what men are like ha ha ) I keep telling myself to pack but then on the other hand im telling myself that there is plenty of time :-S but what happens if something was to happen in the mean time?? i think i should just go with my instinct and pack just incase lol i have been thinking about it for a couple of weeks now. Have any of you ladies packed yet?? I have been picking up breast pads and sanitary towels when i go shopping to go in my bag but havent got round to packing yet lol i just want to be prepared i suppose. If they take me in at 38 weeks (which i doubt) that leaves only 4 weeks which really isnt that long. Im getting myself all excited now :-) My doctor said he wont let me go anywhere near my due date incase i were to go into labour as it will be too dangerous due to my previous 2 sections, so hopefully wont be much longer....roll on April 12th so i will know for sure.

I started packing around week 35/36. I honestly thought it was hard to pack because most things I was using on a daily basis, like my PJs, toiletries, pillow etc. But I packed as much as I could, incl. clothes for the baby, and I had a packing list ready so I would remember exactly what to put in the bag when the day came. I am so glad I at least wrote the list. I think when labor starts you sort of don't think as clear :) When I finally did need to get my bag done because I was in labor, it only took about 10 min to pack. All the best! like you i was unsure when to pack a bag but at 28 weeks i was admitted to hospital as i went into early labour luckilly they were able to stop things for me but it made me realise that i was so unprepared when i came home i packed myself a bag ready and have began packing up a bag for baby at least if i go in i have the things i need ready
