| 27-10-2008 - crappy doctors | My mood while writing this blog:irritated |
I dont know if anyone in here has had this horrible experience before, but I know a ton of people including myself who have. After my first child was born I was told conception would be difficult. After my 3rd child I was told my chances of conception were slim, and the likelihood of carrying full term- well, just dont get my hopes up. 2 years after my 3rd child, I lost 1 ovary and the other basically functions enough to prevent me from going on hormone therapy, but would not be able to actually produce an egg. Here I am, preg with #4!!!!
My friend was in a bad situation for most of her childhood, and her insides are pretty scarred up. She was told by multiple Dr.s that conception would be impossible. On her first attempt at getting preg she succeeded! Carried full term and had a great delivery. She was also told that breast feeding was not an option, and she has solely breast fed for the last 19 months.
My cousin, who had severe endometryosis was told after many surgeries that she would never have kids and trying would be a waste of time and just lead to disappointment. 3 kids later she had her tubes tied.
Her sister, who had an "abnormal uteris" was told basically the same thing, has 4 healthy girls now.
My sister, (stepsister) who has tried like crazy for the last year, has had no luck. A clean bill of health, and normal pregnancies throught her family. She does not drink, smoke or do any drugs. Her Dr. told her there is no reason for her not to get preg and to keep trying for 2-3 more years before going to a fertility specialist. She wants a baby now as her hubbs is scheduled to ship off to Iraq in Jan '09. I dont know what to tell her.
A girl I went to high school with ( i am embarrassed to call her more than an acquaintance) had more abortions throughout high school than most people change their underware in a month. She was also told, when she was ready to have a baby, that it would never happen. The last time I saw her she was preg with baby #3.
I do understand that the medical field is about trial and error and nothing is exact, and most things are not "definite", but its just so frustrating to me that Dr.s are so quick to spit out what seems more like random thoughts and judgments than actual diagnoses.
baby girl names...
