My mood while writing this blog: accomplished |
I just finished cleaning the living room and taking care of some other needs so that's why my mood. Anyhow, we found out last thursday that our little 'dirk' is a girl so.... My mom came over the very next morning to find out what we knew and seemed pretty excited. This is a big thing cuz she wigged out with baby #1. So we wanted to tell my family the gender first as Eddies family all knew we were expecting first. (It was a whole thing just read my previous blog) So we got ahold of my grandparents and as they were not going to be in town for a few days they got the news over the phone. They were hoping for a girl from day one so you know they were happy. Then came his parents. It was Sunday morning at breakfast. I just have no way to verbalize exactly how borderline hostile that was. His mom just 'knew' it was a girl. Blah blah blah. 'You're carrying high and you're gonna get strech marks all up your belly' and on and on she went. Not just helpful advice but antagonizing jabs. I seriously hope that she at least respects our wishes on delivery day. We want to go in on Friday morning and have the ceserean done. By noon I should be all stitched up and out of recovery so we as a family (just us 4) can spend a few hours together whithout all the clammour of visitors until they get off work around 5. I did not have this with Ben and as I want for him to be as much a part of this as he can it means alot to me. I get that the whole family is dying to meet this baby but so is her brother. She is not going anywhere so to ask and be denied a few hours is ridiculous, right? So we'll see. Otherwise everyone seems generally glad to hear that we got a little girl. These kids are already so different. During the ultrasound, the nurse was bumping the baby to get it to move. This was the case with both kids. Ben was pushing back, kicking and fighting back. This little girl was such a girl. She curled into a ball and tried to get away from her prodding. It was cute to see. She is far more active that Ben ever was at this age but so not tempermented the same. And Ben was huge always and she is just a few days to less than a week to the small side. This is good news to me as Eddies sisters are built like linebackers. Close to 6 foot and 200 lbs. So I would prefer her take after me as I am an average to small girl. Well now I am a wee over weight but hello, pregnant? So I bought my timid girl her first clothes, a dress, and am pretty excited to get both sides of parenting. Eddie and I have both decided (possibly temporarily) on the name Briella Lee. We could call her Elly or Ella for short. Or Bree. But funny names like Elly Belly, Ella Bear, La Lee (lolli) and Elly Bean. At the moment it seems perfect but we will probably still look and possible never find a better name. Just in case we say it is maybe temporary. I hate to tell people our names cuz some people lack manners and tact and will tell you they hate it and give you 10 reasons why and 5 names that are 'better'. It just makes me crazy. So for now I only tell some people.
