A braxton hick and contraction both feel like a tightening in the uterus. Its alot different from a kick or a punch from baby! Ways u can tell the difference between a braxton hick and a real contraction is the timing of the contraction. Braxton hicks usually last about 30 seconds, where as real contractions last about 1 minute. U also want to see how often u are having the contractions u dont wanna have 6 in an hour so be concerned if it happens every 10-15 min consistently. Also, braxton hicks come out of nowhere and have no real pattern they can come one at a time or three back to back. My nurse happened to explain this to me yesterday when she came to my house for my weekly shot so if anyone has any questions i could ask her just let me know she comes every monday!

oh thanks for this cuz i was thinkin that braxton hicks werent painful and real conractions were even tho i scare myself by watchin stuff on tv and ppl go into labor witout knowing it cuz they dont feel apinful contractions...that will be me lol specially if my water doesnt break on its own

actually real contractions cannot always be associated with pain this is how some women dont know that they are going into labor or that they've been in labor because they thought they would feel some type of pain. Thats why its best to just count the contractions and see how long they last

Yes thats true, and also braxton hicks dont hurt, with a real contraction you get pain and it will take your breath away, u may find you have to breath through it until it passes. xxx
