01-4-2009 - Birth Story [=

My mood while writing this blog: in love with my little guy

Sunday started off as a perfectly normal day. We went to the PX to get Blake's hair cut and as I was walking around waiting I started having horrible cramps. I told Blake about them so we decided to time them JUST IN CASE. At that point the contractions were only 10 minutes apart so we weren't too concerned. By the time we made it home from the PX my contractions had dropped down to every 4-6 minutes. I called labor and delivery and the nurse said if they kept coming that close after another 45 minutes to come in. At around 6pm Sunday we headed to L&D to get checked out. They hooked me up to my monitors and realized my contractions were now coming every 1.5-2.5 minutes. They checked me for dilation and I was not dilated at all. They let me lay there on the monitors for a good two hours and I told them I was in HORRIBLE pain so they checked me again to find I was already a TWO and 70% effaced. They called and ordered me a epidural because they knew it was going to happen FAST. (for all of my pregnant friends the epidural is TRUE HEAVEN) They also gave me some medicines to help me rest and the rest of the night was a big blur to me. My mom and sister showed up around midnight Sunday and I don't really remember that at all. The doctor broke my water somewhere in between all of this and realized there was old blood in the fluid and when she saw that her exact words were "we need to get him out fast" so they started me on pitocin. The next thing I remember was it was 6am and I was checked and already at 5cm and I was 10cm by 9am. I started pushing around 9am and Carson's stubborn butt decided to turn to his side and his head got stuck in the birth canal. They would let me push for two contractions then turn me to one side for a contraction and back to pushing. After two hours of pushing we finally got him to turn back like he was supposed to be and he entered the world. His head is oddly shaped from being stuck for so long but within a week it'll be back to normal. He is the most perfect baby EVER. He hardly ever cries and just one look with his big eyes will melt your heart. He has a head full of dirty blonde hair and looks a LOT like both of us mixed. We also realized the old blood that was in the fluid was because the placenta had started to tear away from my uterus. My doctor said if Carson wouldn't have became "distressed" and put my body into labor we both could have died. We were both treated with tons of antibiotics because of the tear and are doing great.

My labor experience was very long and painful but I would do it over and over again to meet this little man. He is the true meaning of "love at first sight".

congrats! its a great story! im having a boy , im almost in 38 weeks i dialated 2 cm now. my doctor tells me , any time i will be giving birth. its also too early for my due date. im so excited cant wait to see my little boy.

Just wanted to stop in and say Congrats... Wow we all found out within days of each other we were pregnant and then all had our babies within days of each other also, even a bit early too huh, wow :wub... Anyway enjoy your little guy!

CONGRATS!!! WOW.... you finally had him! I can't believe he was so early! Now the fun really begins... you love him more and more every single second. It's truly amazing being a mommy.... God couldn't have given us a more amazing role. :)

Congrats sweetheart. You were lucky to have an epidural. I had an abruptio placenta as well and I ended up delivering natural with no pain meds! Broke my tail bone and tore ligaments in my pelvic area and in my back, shoulder, and shoulder blades. I'm so glad to hear you guys are okay!
