| 05-11-2009 - I Just LOVE my OB! | My mood while writing this blog:Very Happy! |
First of all Thank you GOD, I heard my baby's heartbeat for the first time~ today! It was 174 and the exam went perfect.
I have a GREAT Dr. who has been doing his job very well for many years and I have complete trust in him and so I also thank HIM for that too! He is an older Asian man who gives you his complete attention when he examines you and talks with you and he has a GREAT smile!
Can you tell I'm happy??
So he answered some questions for me...
1. He took a look during my pap to see where any spotting could be coming from and gave me this explanation.
A. It is not from your uterus. When you are pregnant your cervix expands from all of the hormones in preparation for delivery and so the capillaries also expand and become more sensitive and can break from lifting, bending, intercourse, etc. Nothing to worry about and completely normal. This is for any of you ladies with concerns of spotting, relax. ;)
2. In his experience, (the man retired after delivering my first son and returned to work to deliver my last, so he is of retirement age at least and in my experiences extremely knowledgable of his profession) there seems to some truth to the heartbeat wives tale with more girls born with the higher heartbeats. He says this is not always true and that he delivered a girl with 120, and that the heartbeats can change and do BUT it seems to usually be the case with his experiences. So there's a little fun for us to ponder.hehe
3. He prefers prenatals with DHA because he thinks that they may make the babies smarter and so he gave me a bunch of samples! I explained that should help make up for my husbands side of the family. LOL!!!
4. Swine flu or flu symptoms, should be monitored for a high fever that will not break or come down with tylenol and if so call for tamiflu, which by the way, has not been tested on pregnant women. (I think I have that straight.)
5. My trusted nurse Heather who has seen me through all my pregnancies says you can usually hear the heartbeat on doppler as early as 10 weeks and as late as 14 in some cases. So not to worry ladies!
I have an u/s scheduled for tomorrow at 7pm to determine gestational size, due date, and check on the placenta.
So tired now so off to bed, I just couldn't wait to tell you the news and thanks so much for all your prayers and well wishes!
I love you all. ;)
