12-7-2009 - My pregnancy story Happy My mood while writing this blog:
Happy

Hello all. My name is Tianna. My fiance' and I are expecting our first child in November. We are both SO Excited even though it wasn't planned. Being my first pregnancy I had no idea what to expect. I am a nurse in the mother/baby complex at my hospital, so I guess I knew all things that could happen but everyone's preganacy is so special and unique I didn't know what to expect for myself. I thought I would sail through this pregnancy with no road bumps along the way. Not so. At 7 weeks while at work I started bleeding. They did an ultrasound and saw that the baby looked good. Exactly two weeks later at 9 weeks while at work I bled again, this time very heavy with large clots. I was sure at first that I was miscarrying. The ER Docs thought so as well. But again upon ultrasound they saw my littleone seemed to be doing well. I was put on pelvic rest at 7 weeks and there I have remained. Everything after those two episodes seemed to be going well and I thought I had turned a new leaf in this pregnancy. We went in at 19.2 weeks for our routine anatomy u/s where we found that we were having a little girl. We were both surprised and a little shocked because we thought is was a boy for so long. Seconds after finding out the sex the tech said that my cervix looked short and she needed to get a better look with a transvaginal u/s. This was news I wasn't prepared for. After further examination she said " your cervix is short, very short". I asked how short and she told me I only had 6mm. I also had funneling and my membranes where protruding into my cervix. My first thought was, well at least it's still closed. (Always an optimist). I saw the Peri, and then was admitted to the hopital. The next day they put in the cerclage. I remained in the hospital for five day sand was then sent home on bed rest. That is were I remain today at 22.6 weeks. My u/s after the cerclage showed my cervix at 1.3cm long. I go tomorrow for another u/s. I'm eager to know what the measurement is and I can't wait to get out of the house for the first time in two weeks.

Update- I had an ultrasound yesterday at 23 weeks and my cervix is down to 0.5cm with funneling past the cerclage. I am nervous to say the least.

Update- My ultrasound at 26 weeks showed that I had no closed cervix left and dilated about 1cm. Also, my fluid was low.

Update- Ultrasound follow up on fluid levels at 27 weeks showed fluid levels are normal. Cervix remains the same. Baby is doing great.

Update- I got my cerclage removed today, Oct 12, 2009, 36 weeks exactly. I worried everyday for the past 4 months about not making it to this day!
