08-3-2009 - 24wk check

My mood while writing this blog: great!!!

i have a few min before church so i thought i would quickly get this out. i had my ob appt on fri. i was 24.4w and will be 25wks tomorrow. everything is good. i think she said the heartbeat was 150. i love seeing a midwife. she sat and talked to my hubby and i for 45-60mins. she told me to get a brace for sleeping for the preg induced carpal tunnel. so far it has not helped much but it has only been 2 days. she said the spotting after sex everything is fine as long as i am not having cramping, it is not red or anything unusual. she also said i can drink red rasp leaf tea. she said it does not induce labor but it does strength your uterus muscle which might help with the BH or other crampy from a grumpy uterus. she also talked a lot about BF with me. i have not been able to Bf longer then 4-6wks in the past because of allergies. and in that time i have had a lot of pain from contant cracked and bleeding nipples. i know it is to hurt at the begining but she said it should not hurt like that. only when you first attach them for a few sec then all should be fine. and cracked bleeding nipples is a sign of inproper latching. i did not think latching was a strong point of mine but i have talked to lacation consultants after all of my babies in the hospital and even afterwards. so she said a shield for the first week or so should help as they have made them really nice now. she also said i need to be fitted for a shield which i recieved a shield with ethan but i was not fitted she just gave me one. she also said she i going to talk to their lactation consultant and look things up to see if she can find anything about avoiding or proventing food allergies. i am really hopeful that i will be able to nurse longer this time. and not be in pain the whole time so i can enjoy it. i go back in 4wks and get my glucose test. i will be 28wks. after that i go every 2wks. it seems so fast as all my appt so far have been 6wks and i will have one 4wk and then go right to 2wks. i had the girls party yesterday. all went really well the girls had a great time and people liked the jungle them i did. sad that was my last big party for them but i am so happy that everyone had a great time. now it is time to relax. except for the leak in a pile that is making my basement went. and my basement is finished with carpet and drywall. thankfully we figured out the reason is the hose outside when it is used. so we are just not using it. ryans dad is going to see if he can fix it first before calling a plumber. i am so grateful that his dad is well knowledged in all part of maintace from his hvac business that his family had been doing for years. i had a friends little boy over the other day. he justed turned 3yrs and ethan will be 2 at the end of the month. ethan is not very playful and not so sharing with is toys with others. but he had a great time. the little boy likes trains which is one of ethans favorites so they played trains then chased each other with the riding cars and played ball. it was so nice to see him having a great time. i have now decided that i hope this baby is a boy for sure. i did not care before but after seeing that who would not want a buddy for their baby. well i think that is it. i have nothing this week so i am resting. i am going to try and get a few hrs of subbing in soon as i have not been doing it for the last 2-3mos and summer will be here soon so i should get some in while i can. extra money is always good. i hope you are all haveing great weather like i am and enjoying it. i hope you are also feeling well !! Time is flying by isnt it?? I just reached the point where I cant breathe, I cant wait untill he drops! So Im gonna guess and say your having a boy-
Im still not confident with the whole midwife /ob thing- Im gonna start reading some natural birth books and hopefully that will give me a little more confidence. I keep fretting over the what ifs...Ive been so panicy and anxious this pregnancy which is unfourtnate because I think this is the last. I really wanted to just enjoy it but it has been hard...How are you guys?

wow I wish I had a mid wife with my babies that was very informative and so supportive. My ob is wonderful and I just love her but that sounds like a great appointment

Hey there!! I am so glad everything is going well with the baby!!! I drank the raspberry leaf tea and I loved it...I still drink some now and then...it is really good for you!!! I cannot believe how far you are already...hope you are having a great week:)
