21-4-2009 - ethans speech eval

My mood while writing this blog: great

ethan had his speech eval for not talking. i must say i have noticed a bit of an improvement from just keeping the nuk away during the day. he only gets it at naps and bed time. he has also been sick for the past wk so i have been a little easy about it. but they said he does not need speech. he does show a bit of a speech delay he was at the level below normal but he needs to be 2levels below in order to get speech. so she told me some different things to do to help him to communicate. she told me to use jestures/sign launguage to help him tell me what he wants. she said some children when people don't understand them get frustrated and just stop trying. most of what she said i have been doing but i think the big key is to keep the nuk out more and push him to the next level of 2word together. she did say that he is above average for his general learning so that it is just speech related and nothing else. he is to go back in 3-6mos for another eval but other wise is good.

i am 31wks as of yesterday and feel good most of the time. i do have my bad days though. i go to the midwife tomorrow. hope you are all enjoying the nice weather and feeling well.
