| 24-6-2009 - birth story | My mood while writing this blog:blessed |
so i was having pre labor symptoms wed, thurs, and fri. i went in on thurs to get checked as it was my second day of having contractions. they said that i was 2cm and 80%. they also said baby turned into a posterior postition and that was most likely what the problem was. she gave me tips to try and get the baby to turn. so i tried them and finally on sat i woke up feeling great. i had my energy back i was not longer having contractions or any kind of pain. so i went shopping at kohls and then got some house work done then went to my sisters to go swimming. we only stayed an hour and then went to a festival. we got home and i had not eaten myself so hubby put the kids to bed and i ate. then i had a milk shake while reading. thankfully after my shake was all my water broke. it was 10:03pm. so yuck! no contractions yet. so i went and showered off but it kept coming. so when i got out i had to use a towel. midwife said to just come in since i had a 45min drive and fast births. so now the contractions start and we leave. i am breathing good and feel good between them. when we get to the hospital the contractions are stronger and walking is getting to be hard. thw triage nurses finally get me into a room and in a gown. they were taking their time. and i am 100% and 4cm. well now i am worried. in the past labor was quick once my water broke. it is now an hr later and i only dialated 2cm. so they wheel me to a labor room and i am starting to get lightheaded and not being able to control breathing without hyper vent. so the nurses are trying to ask me questions that i am not able to anwser well. and i tell them i want an epi. i ask now as i know sometimes it takes the epi guy a while to get there if he is busy. i am disappointed as all my others were natural but i thought if i am having issues with breathing now i am not going to make it a few more hours of this. so they have to get an iv in me first. finally on the 3rd try the get it. but they think i have progressed by how i am behaving so they want to check me before they call the epi guy. but then my midwife walks in an see me and says you can push with the next contraction. i think really, i don;t feel like pushing and she did not even check me. but she is good. so i start she rubs the lip of cervix that is left outso then pushing is easier. i must say i was disappointed in mt pushing. i am normally very good at pushing and get baby out ib just a few mins, but between being exhausted and not in a good position as i was trying something different it took 5-10mins to get her out. she was 8lbs 0.7oz and 20in. i had 1st degree tears. i was not expecting to go from 4cm to delivering in an hour but i am glad i did even if it made it more painful. i was then able to have another drug free labor. if it would have been longer it would be a different story. in all from water breaking labor was 2hrs and 23mins long. and that madam lady predicted 2hrs. she is so tiny. does not look 8lbs. she is nursing good and does not like any artifical nipples. she is my last so i am a little said about not being pregnant anymore. her brother and sisters adore her. i hope that stays. i am so blessed to have been able to be preg 4times with no issues and have fast labors with healthy babies. god is great!!!
The day you deliver, outside will be foggy. Your baby will arrive in the early evening.
After a labor lasting approximately 2 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and will be 19-1/2 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and some very fine hair.
