17-12-2008 - Did My Membranes Really RUPTURE?!?!?!

My mood while writing this blog:
Nervous, Excited, Mixed, EXCITED

So, this morning I went to go pee and felt a huge gush of fluid come out of me. I thought it was just normal discharge because that happens to me A LOT! I looked in my panties and it was completely clear and liquidy. I happened to have a prenatal appointment this morning and told my midwife about it. She checked me to see if it was amniotic fluid. She came back into the room and told me that by looking under the microscope, it didn't really have that "snowflake pattern" that amniotic fluid has. So she checked the PH and it indicated that it was amniotic fluid. I also dissolved the paper sheets on the bed! Haha!
She called L&D and told them to expect me around 9pm tonight. She said that if it continues to be leaking I may be induced TONIGHT! I wanted to avoid that.
SO, here is my big question...she asked me when was the last time I had sex. I told her 2 days ago. BUT, I forgot I had sex last night! (I have taken 2 showers since then). Do you think that this whole thing could be sperm?! That would be a waste of time....Please tell me what you think. Should I just go to L&D tonight as planned or should I try and call my midwife and tell her I did the dirty last night?
I don't know. Sperm doesn't usually leak out so heavily like that....

Oh my FREAK!!!!! you have probably had the baby by now!!!!.. you predicted the 16th or 18th for me and the 23rd for yourself.... but I think you had it backwards :D I hope everything went/goes well. Post pictures and a story as soon as possible. :)

well if you dont want to be induced they cant force you to. you will naturally go into labor. i dont think it was sperm though that is was so clear and she may of been able to tell by looking at it. wow. you are definitly on your way. i have no signs at all and my ultrasound today measured january4th! but i think its wrong. it was done quickly in the office. so they are sending me out monday.
if its a gush of fluid. i think your water broke. and i would tell your midwife you had sex last night...lol but i would tell her you dont want to be induced. just to let it happen naturally.

Cant they give you an ultrasound to see if the fluid is going down? Is there some other way, some other thing they can do to find out if you're loosing fluid or not? I can certainly understand not wanting to go there and be induced for no reason. But I do agree that sperm wouldnt GUSH out of your vagina the next day. Pregnant or not, that seems pretty odd. Did you call your midwife and let her know that you had infact had sex more recently? I would call just incase that changes anything....Good luck!!!! :)

If I was you, I would go in tonight and see what they say or what happens. You probably will end up having the baby tonight...BUT if it's nothing they can always send you home. Good luck! I can't wait to see cute baby pics.

yea i agree they would have known and you would have known if it was sperm...besides she looked at it under the microscope..she would have noticed for sure little spermies swimming lol!!! And she checked the ph and all..and i was told that if you smell the liquid (odd thing to do i know..) then it will usually have a some what sweet smell...so i guess if you leak more then try smelling it...that sounds funny to tell you to do lol!!! I'll bet your about to pop anytime..yayyy!!!!

OMG!!!!! This is exciting! I hope it wasn't sperm and you'll actually have your baby tonight! I think if they looked under the microscope they would see little spermy guys since i think they can stay alive for about 48 hours.....but dont quote me on that. WOOOO u better have ur baby. I wanna see photos, lots of photos and a detailed step by step description of child birth and if the gas really does help! I'll be waiting...
