17-4-2008 - Babies love Harry Potter, right? contentMy mood while writing this blog:
content

So I started reading the first Harry Potter book (Sorcerer's Stone) to Paige while she was in the NICU. Other parents were singing to their babies, but I can't sing at all. I would talk to Paige when I visited her but honestly, I would run out of things to say after a while. I wanted her to remember my voice, and not forget who I was, so I decided to read her a book. I picked something fun and with a lot of words for her to hear (she's too young to look at even infant books right now)... hence Harry Potter. So there I would sit, first by her isolette, reading to her through the arm porthole; then, when she graduated to the open crib, I'd scoop her up and lay her on my lap while I read. She always fell fast asleep, so I think she liked it. We got almost to the end of that book by the time she was discharged from the NICU.

When she came home, we continued the book reading. Now, at least twice a day, after her bottle I'll read to her (we are on the second Harry Potter book now, Chamber of Secrets). She is so content during and after this, I wish I had more time to read to her after every bottle!

That is wonderful! I know I love HP and can't wait to share it with my son and baby when they get a bit older, as Joey wont sit still long enough now... lol
