I posted on the board earlier that I needed surgery tomorrow...here is what is going on. I have been struggling with kidney stones since just before Lilly was born. Last month as we evacuated from Ike I began to get sick and then came that familiar pain of another stone. I saw a urologist last week who sent me in for a scan and there was a stone just outside my left kidney, but there was something else wrong as well. My right kidney was very tiny and seemed to not be a functioning kidney . We don't know if it was a birth defect or if it just quit working. That is not a huge problem you can live a great life with one kidney but the 5mm stone causes a huge concern now since I only have one functioning kidney. If the stone blocks the flow of urine from that kidney we now have an emergency. The best way to prevent an emergency is to get that stone out of the way. So tomorrow they will send a camera up my uriter (the urine flows from kidneys through these) and look at my kidneys and push the stone back up into the left kidney then give me lipotrispki (sp) . Should be so much fun! It is supposed to be day surgery and so I should be home tomorrow night, hopefully resting in my bed. I won't be on for a few days so I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
